With the SBI PO exam done, a large section of the candidates have now diverted their attention to the next 2 big exams- SSC CGL & IBPS PO. While both exams are for 2 hours (Mains & SSC CGL) and both cover 4 sections of Reasoning, Quant, English and GK, a quick glance at the papers will reveal thatthe topics covered are quite different. If you remove the common GK section, the table illustrates the difference between the topics asked in both. SSC CGL has a higher focus on Trigonometry and other geometry topics which are not covered in IBPS PO exams at all. Moreover, the reasoning sections in both look completely different with Analytical Reasoning questions dominating bank exam papers while they do not find a place in the SSC CGL exam. Visual Reasoning, a topic that was important on Banking exams until recently, do not feature on Banking exams since the exams went online. The SSC CGL, which continues to be offline covers 5-8 questions on the same. There is a large emphasis on vocabulary and related topics on SSC CGL with questions on idioms, spellings, one word definitions, the same emphasis is missing in IBPS PO and other bank exams.
The above is just an overview highlighting the basic differences. It is recommended that you take a sample test and adjust your prep accordingly. Take a free mock test for IBPS PO | SSC CGL
