Empowering MSMEs, Chintan Shivir in Delhi

Chintan Shivir in Delhi

Chintan Shivir: The Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) in India is working to support businesses and their research and development (R&D) efforts. They aim to help industries develop advanced technologies with a global edge, ensuring faster application of R&D, better technology sharing, and more high-tech exports. They also intend to improve industrial consulting and create an easy-to-use information network for research in India.

Why Small Businesses Matter

Small and medium-sized businesses, often known as MSMEs, are a big part of India’s economy. They help balance development across the country. To help these businesses turn public-funded research into practical products and ideas, DSIR started the Common Research and Technology Development Hubs (CRTDH) program in 2014. Now, there are 18 CRTDHs across India, offering modern research facilities to MSMEs, research organizations, start-ups, and innovators. They help turn scientific knowledge into real products and solutions.

Empowering MSMEs: Chintan Shivir

As part of the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” and India’s journey to be more self-reliant, DSIR is organizing “Chintan Shivir-CRTDHs Empowering MSMEs.” These events let different people talk and discuss important issues. Many have already happened at top institutions in India, and the next one will be on October 13, 2023, at the Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences & Research University (DPSRU) in New Delhi.

What to Expect

The DPSRU event will start with talks by Prof. Ramesh K. Goyal, DPSRU’s Vice-Chancellor, and Dr. N. Kalaiselvi, DSIR’s Secretary & Director General of CSIR. The program includes an overview of Chintan Shivir by Dr. Sujata Chaklanobis, Scientist-G & Head-CRTDH, DSIR, along with talks by Prof. (Dr.) Harvinder Popli, Registrar of DPSRU, and Prof. Geeta Aggarwal, Project Coordinator-CRTDH at DPSRU. The event will also host representatives from DSIR and CRTDH scheme division, as well as the CRTDH team of DPSRU and DPSRU Innovation and Incubation Foundation. MSMEs, start-ups, industry associations, and various stakeholders will join in discussions to learn how CRTDH can help their R&D efforts. After the start, attendees can visit different stalls at the event.

Panel Talks and Insights

The core of the event lies in panel discussions, particularly one titled “CRTDH Building a Support System for MSMEs for R&D and Manufacturing.” Moderated by Dr. Vipin C Shukla, Scientist-F & Member Secretary-CRTDH, DSIR, this discussion aims to address the challenges faced by MSMEs, with a strong focus on research and development. The goal is to generate fresh ideas and perspectives that can help the government create new policies, programs, and initiatives. This event is a chance for MSMEs, start-ups, and industries to understand how CRTDH can boost their capabilities, increase productivity, and drive innovation, especially in the affordable healthcare sector. Different sessions will highlight CRTDH’s role in helping MSMEs and stakeholders with research infrastructure, futuristic technologies, and opportunities within India.
