More than the grammar rules, their application in various situations helps keep those rules afresh in one’s mind. For solving the vocabulary-based question, be it synonym/antonym, idiom/phrases, one-word substitution, spelling errors, a stronghold on vocabulary is a must which requires constant practice and noting down of all the difficult words encountered from any source (for instance, while reading an article from a newspaper) and revising in on a daily basis. This will significantly improve one’s vocabulary in a short period of time (within a month or two).
