New officers get commissioned as Lieutenant and move up the ranks depending upon the number of years of service. Commissioned Officers are equivalent to All India Services & Group “A” Service officers. Grade pay is calculated on the basis of the post of an employee according to the 7th pay commission. The highest rank of the Indian Army is the rank of General, held by the Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army (COAS). Here is the salary and pay scale of the officers in the commissioned ranks :
