SBI CBO Eligibility Criteria 2025

Candidates aspiring to apply for the SBI Circle Based Officer (CBO) Recruitment 2025 must meet specific eligibility conditions related to education, age, work experience, and language proficiency. These criteria ensure that only qualified and capable candidates proceed through the selection process.

SBI CBO Educational Qualification

Applicants must hold a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university or possess an equivalent qualification approved by the Central Government. Degrees in disciplines such as Engineering, Medicine, Chartered Accountancy (CA), and Cost Accountancy are also considered eligible. The date of passing the qualifying examination should be mentioned on the mark sheet or provisional certificate. If the result is published online, a certificate from the university specifying the date will be accepted.

SBI CBO Age Limit

As on 30 April 2025, candidates must be between 21 and 30 years of age. This means candidates must have been born between 01 May 1995 and 30 April 2004 (both dates inclusive).

SBI CBO Age Relaxation

Age relaxations are applicable for reserved categories as per government norms:

SBI CBO Experience (Post Qualification)

Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of experience as of 30 April 2025 in an officer position in any Scheduled Commercial Bank or Regional Rural Bank listed in the Second Schedule of the RBI. Applicants are required to submit a job profile certificate from their current or previous employer. If the job profile significantly differs from that of a Scale-I Generalist Officer in SBI, the application is liable to be rejected at any stage. The bank’s decision in this regard will be final and binding.

SBI CBO Local Language Proficiency

Candidates applying for a specific circle must be proficient in the local language (reading, writing, and understanding) specified for that circle. A language test will be conducted as part of the selection process for provisionally selected candidates. Those who fail to qualify this test will not be offered an appointment. However, candidates who have studied the specified language in their 10th or 12th standard (as evidenced by their mark sheet/certificate) will be exempted from this test.

SBI CBO Selection Process 2025

The selection process for the SBI Circle Based Officer (CBO) Recruitment 2025 comprises four distinct stages:

  1. Online Examination: Candidates will first undergo an online test consisting of two parts:
    • Objective Test: This section includes 120 questions covering English language, banking knowledge, general awareness/economy, and computer aptitude. The total duration is 2 hours.
    • Descriptive Test: Immediately following the objective test, this section assesses candidates’ letter and essay writing skills, totaling 50 marks with a duration of 30 minutes. There is no negative marking in either section.
  2. Screening: After the online examination, a screening committee will evaluate the applications and experience documents of shortlisted candidates. This stage verifies the candidates’ work experience and ensures it aligns with the job profile of a Scale-I Generalist Officer at SBI. Applications not meeting the requisite criteria will be rejected.
  3. Interview: Candidates who pass the screening stage will be invited for a personal interview, which carries 50 marks. The bank will determine the minimum qualifying marks required for this stage.
  4. Local Language Proficiency Test: Before the final appointment, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the local language of the circle they have applied to. This includes reading, writing, and understanding the language. Candidates who have studied the local language in their 10th or 12th standard and can provide relevant certificates are exempt from this test.

Final selection is based on the combined performance in the online test and interview, with a weightage ratio of 75:25, respectively. Candidates must qualify in both stages separately to be considered for the final merit list.
