SBI PO Phase II : Pattern Change

The State Bank of India has released a notification regarding a revision in the pattern of the upcoming SBI PO examination. There has been no change in the pattern of Prelims; however, in Phase II i.e., the Main exam there will be a fixed time allotted for each section.
TheMmain exam is broadly divided into the objective test and descriptive test. The objective test is for 200 marks whereas the Descriptive test, which will be conducted after the completion of Objective test, is for 25 marks. Both the tests will be held online.

Phase I: Preliminary Examination

The prelims is comprised of three sections and the candidates are required to qualify in each of the sections by securing passing marks which is decided by the bank. Candidates will be shortlisted from each category by the bank for the main exam.
Penalty: For each wrong answer, one-fourth of the allotted marks will be deducted as penalty. There will be no penalty for unanswered questions.

The main exam will include an Objective test of 3 hours duration for 200 marks, followed by a descriptive test for 25 marks. The objective test will have four sections and the candidates will be allotted separate timing for each section.
Descriptive test: The descriptive test will be held after the completion of the objective test. The test will be held online and candidates are required to answer by typing on the computer.
The test is allotted a total of 30 minutes and 25 marks. Candidates will be tested for English Language (Letter writing & essay) and are required to qualify by obtaining passing marks, to be decided by the bank.
In order to be considered for evaluation for the descriptive test, the Candidates are required to score qualifying marks in objective tests.
Phase III: Group Discussion and Interview

The candidates will be further shortlisted by the bank for the Group Discussion and Interview. The total marks of qualifying candidates will be arranged in descending order in each category. The bank selects a particular number of candidates from each category to be called for the Group discussion and Interview round. The qualifying marks for the Group Discussion and Interview will be decided by the bank.
Final selection
The final merit list is prepared by adding the marks obtained from Phase II i.e. Main examination to the marks obtained in Phase III i.e. Group Discussion and Interview. Marks obtained in Phase I won’t be added for the selection.
The marks obtained in written test (out of 225) will be converted to out of 75 and the marks obtained in Group discussion and Interview (out of 50) will be converted to out of 25. The converted marks of candidates from the Phase II and III are combined for the final merit list. The selection will be made from the top ranking candidates in each category.
Note: Candidates are required to qualify in Phase II and Phase III separately, to be considered for the final selection.
