SSC MTS Eligibility – Age Limit, Educational Qualification

SSC MTS (Staff Selection Commission Multi Tasking Staff) Examination is a popular national level exam governed by SSC. It recruits a candidate in Group-C category Central Services (particularly for non-gazetted and non-ministerial posts) offered by several central government ministries, offices, and departments. This exam fills vacant posts of Peons, Daftarys, Chowkidars, Jamadars, Gardners, Junior Gestetner Operators, Safaiwalas, etc. In this post, we are going to look at SSC MTS Eligibility in detail:

SSC MTS Eligibility 

The staff selection commission has set certain SSC MTS Eligibility criteria that need to be mandatorily fulfilled by all the candidates opting for the SSC MTS examination. These rules are mainly based on the candidate’s nationality, educational qualification, and age group, such as:

  • The candidate appearing in the SST MTS Exam 2021 must be an Indian national or a subject of Bhutan, Tibet, or Nepal refugee.
  • The candidate should be between 18 and 27 years of age as of January 1, 2021
  • The candidate must possess a passing certificate of class Xth or equivalent from a recognised board.

SSC MTS Eligibility 2021: Educational Qualification

To be qualified for various posts offered through SSC MTS Exam, the candidate must have passed any matriculation (Xth) exam or equivalent from a recognized board or university as of August 1, 2021.

Points to Note:

  • If the candidate does not clear the qualifying examination before the last date of application form receipt, he/she will not be permitted for the exam.
  • The candidate who gets qualified by the Commission needs to produce all relevant certificates for document verification. 
  • The required certificates, such as mark sheets, provisional certificates, matriculation certificate, etc., need to be produced in original as proofs of having earned the minimum educational qualification.

SSC MTS Eligibility 2021: Nationality

The State Selection Commission has set certain nationality criteria to be eligible for SSC MTS Exam 2021. Therefore, the candidate seeking this recruitment must qualify the criteria mentioned below:

  • The candidate must be an Indian citizen, or
  • The candidate must be a subject to Nepal, or
  • The candidate must be a subject of Bhutan, or
  • The candidate is a Tibetan refugee and came to India on or before January 1, 1962intending to settle in India, or
  • The candidate must be of Indian origin and has migrated from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma, or East African countries, intending to settle in India permanently. 

Points to Note:

  • The candidate from a country other than India (including the ones mentioned above) must produce a certificate of SSC MTS Eligibility issued by the Government of India.
  • The candidate who gets relaxation in providing the eligibility certificates may be admitted to the examination. But The SSC will give the appointment letter after clearing the exam only after producing the essential eligibility certificates issued by the respective offices of the Government of India.

SSC MTS Eligibility 2021: Age Limit

The candidate who wishes to get recruited at any of the posts offered by the SSC MTS 2021 exam must not be less than 18 years of age and more than 27 years of age on or before August 1, 2021.

  • SSC MTS Lower Age limit: 18 years (i.e. the candidate must not be born later than 01-08-2003)
  • SSC MTS Upper Age Limit: 27 years (i.e. the candidate must not be born before 02-08-1994) 

Points to Note:

The vacancies for SSC MTS are filled in two age groups;

(i) 18 to 25 years 

(ii) 18 to 27 years

The final result cut-offs will have separate listings according to age group-wise, State/ UT-wise, and category-wise. The candidates in the age group of 18-25 years will fill the vacancy first. The second category candidates will get placed only after the first list is completed.

SSC MTS Eligibility 2021 Age Limit Relaxation

If the candidate is from any reserved categories like Physically Handicapped (PH) or Person with Disabilities (PwD), SC/ST, OBC categories, etc., he can avail the benefits of the upper age limit relaxations being provided by the commission.

Points to Note 

  • The candidate who has a minimum of 40% disability will benefit from the reservation as mentioned in the above table categories of physically handicapped.
  • If the candidate is a central government employee, he/she will get a concession either under the PH/PwD category or under the Central Government Employee category.
  • The candidate’s date of birth will be considered as mentioned on the matriculation certificate provided, and no changes will be accepted once registered by the commission. So make sure to check your certificates before submitting them.
  • The candidate with a physical disability will not be eligible for any posts offered by the Border Road Organisation (BRO).
  • The candidate applying in the ex-servicemen category will get age limit relaxation after deduction of the military service rendered from his/her actual age as on the closing date of receipt of the online application.
  • The candidate seeking age relaxation under any reserved, disability, or other categories must submit requisite SC/ST/OBC/disability certificates. 
  • The required certificates must be issued from the competent authority on or before the designated date and deposited in the preset format. 

The candidate applying for the SSC MTS examination should ensure that he/she fulfils all the SSC MTS Eligibility conditions, including educational qualification, age limit, and nationality. The admission of the candidate at all the stages of the examination will be only provisional, subject to the prescribed eligibility conditions. If it is found on verification (at any time before or after the written examination) that the candidate does not meet any of the eligibility requirements, his/her candidature will be cancelled by the Commission. So, it is advised that the candidate ensure that he/she meets all SSC MTS Eligibility criteria and qualifies for the 2021 exam.
