SSC Selection Post Exam: Application Process

Follow the steps given for successfully applying to SSC Selection Post Exam:

  • Kindly visit for more data on the Staff Selection Commission. 
  • While applying initially, you should click “Register Now,” showing up at the highest point of the page, and enter your data, for example, your email address, telephone number, and name. 
  • The registration number will be sent to the candidates on their mobile number and email.
  • Now again, the applicants need to enter their login ID and password to open the homepage.
  • Through the apply link, proceed to apply for the examination.
  • Carefully fill all the information and submit the application form.
  • After that, you need to pay the examination fees.
  • The format and the size of the documents should be according to the requirements.
  • Provide your disability certificate if it is applicable
  • Candidates should keep the receipts of fees and application forms for evidence purposes.

There are in total three stages of the SSC Selection Post Exam, which are mentioned below:

1) Computer-Based Examination

There will be three separate Computer Based Exam for three educational eligibilities.

  • Matriculation
  • Higher Secondary
  • Graduate & above.

The marking scheme and various sections of the paper will be the same, but the content of the syllabus will differ according to educational qualification.

Observe the following details about the SSC Selection Post Exam Pattern 2021 for Computer Based Exam:

  1. Objective type questions, i.e. Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), will be asked in a Computer-based Exam.
  2. There is a negative marking for incorrect responses– 0.50 marks will be subtracted for each incorrect response.
  3. The total time duration is an hour for usual candidates. However, for Visually Handicapped (VH)/Orthopedically Handicapped (OH) candidates, the period will be 80 minutes.

As per the SSC Selection Post announcement, applicants will have to obtain a minimum percentage to pass the computer-based exam.

  1.  Unreserved Candidates (UR): 35 per cent
  2. Other Backward Categories (OBC): 30 per cent
  3. Other Categories: 25 per cent

  According to the number of applicants appearing for the exam and the number of jobs available, Staff Selection Commission will decide the cut-off percentage accordingly for each section.

2) Skill Test

Skill Tests will be organized only for specific posts, depending on the necessity of the posts. There are many types of Skill tests, such as:

  1. Typing Test
  2. Computer Proficiency Test
  3. Data Entry Test, etc.

Applicants who passed the Computer Based Exam will submit printed copies of online applications alongside supporting records or certificates in the regional offices. The number of applicants who will be called will rely on the number of jobs available for a specific post: 

  • For up to 5 availability in a post, applicants 20 times the number of jobs will be invited
  • For more than 5 availability for a position, applicants 10 times the number of jobs will be invited

Skill Test (wherever relevant) will not be counted for final selection as it is qualifying and will be organized only for those applicants whose documents and certificates are obtained in order.

3) Final Selection and Document Verification

Applicants need to submit the essential documents and certificates confirming the information about name, other personal details, academic details, eligibility criteria for the post(s) concerned, etc., defaulting to which their candidature will be declined. The information presented by the applicant in the application form while enrollment will be verified in the Document Verification phase (DV). The ultimate selection of applicants will depend upon the marks obtained by them in the Computer Based Exam. So, one must prepare in a way that guarantees a high number in the Computer Based Exam.

Following documents need to be submitted by the candidate during Document Verification Phase:

  1. Graduation certificates.
  2. Class 12th passing certificate.
  3. Matriculation certificate.
  4. Caste certificate for reserved category candidates.
  5. Certification for candidates who seek age relaxation.
  6. PwD certificates, if applicable.
  7. NOC for Government employees.
  8. Ex-Servicemen certificates.
  9. Candidates who changed their names after matriculation must show valid certification.
  10. Other documents as specified in the DV call letter.
