SSC Stenographer Notification 2024 – Application Link

The online registration for SSC Stenographer 2024 is expected to start in July 2024. Candidates can apply through the official website. But before applying, candidates must go through the article and official notification of SSC Stenographer 2024 to check if they meet all the criteria or not. The link mentioned below will be active once the Staff Selection Commission released the official application form.

Prerequisites for Applying Online

The following should be on hand for the candidates before they begin their application process.

  1. A valid Mobile Number (to be verified through an OTP)
  2. An active Email ID
  3. Aadhaar Number/ PAN/ Voter ID/ Driver License/ Passport/ Employer ID (Govt./ PSU/ Private)
  4. Class 10th and 12th Mark sheets
  5. Mark sheets of higher qualifications (if any)
  6. Scanned image of candidate’s colour passport-size photograph
  7. Scanned image of the candidate’s signature
  8. Category certificate (if any)

How to Apply Online for SSC Stenographer 2024 Notification

The process of filling out the form involves three stages :

  • New Registration
  • Form fill-up and preference for posts
  • Application fee payment

New Registration

  1. Candidates are required to register themselves on the commission’s website. (On the home there are 3 columns, for registration & edit options, details of examination & application form, and printing the application & admission certificate)
  2. Go to New Registration and click on Register. A fresh page containing the registration details will be shown on the screen. It will require details like Name, Father’s Name, Board Examination Roll Number, DoB, Gender, etc.
  3. Fill in the required details.
  4. Enter Captcha & click enter

The next stage is to fill out the SSC Stenographer Application form

Form Filling

The personal details form will have questions like Name, Mother’s Name, Father’s Name, DoB, and Gender.

Step 1: Enter the details as per your 10th certificate. The name, father’s name, and mother’s name should be as per the Government certificates

  1. The date of birth should be the same as the 10th Board certificate
  2. The Basic Details form will require details like Azhar Card Number, Nationality, Religion, Category, Disability if any, and Certificate Number
  3. The Contact Details Form will require the address, Pin code, State, and mobile No. and E-mail Id

Step 2: Fill in the details and click on the submit button.

Step 3: You need to upload a scanned copy of a passport-size photograph & signature. Details of the photograph & signature are given below:

Step 4: Fill in all the mandatory details to complete the registration.

Post Preference

Application Fees

The Staff Selection Commission allows fee exemption and Age Relaxation for ex-servicemen, Physically Handicapped Candidates. The application fees can be paid in both online and offline modes.

  • For offline mode: The candidates should download the challan and make the payment in State Bank of India branches and enter the acknowledgment number.
  • For online Mode: Candidates can make online payments through/ credit card/ debit card/ net banking/ BHIM UPI.

SSC Stenographer Notification 2024 – Application Form Corrections 

For corrections/changes that are required, candidates should enter the registration no. and DoB on the application page and make the required changes. If the candidates are unable to make the corrections online, they can contact the Staff Selection Commission office or write an e-mail to them regarding the same. Changes like Examination center, Application to particular Posts, 10th certificate no., are not entertained.

SSC Stenographer Notification 2024 – Eligibility Criteria

There are several factors in eligibility criteria such as educational qualifications, age limit, relaxation in age limit, citizenship, eligibility of ex-servicemen, reservations, etc. which are given below:-

Educational Qualification

  • The candidate appearing in the exam must have qualified 10 plus 2 or equivalent. This qualification should have been obtained from a recognized university or board.
  • All degrees, including technical education degrees/diplomas, given by universities through Open and Distance Learning modes of study are recognized for employment in Central Government jobs and services. It is necessary to verify that they have been approved by the University Grants Commission’s Distance Education Bureau.
  • All applicants must provide their original certificates, such as mark sheets and provisional certificates from intermediate/higher secondary/senior secondary school.

Age Limit

The age restriction for the applicants is listed below. Candidates from the OBC and SC/ST categories, on the other hand, are granted certain leeway.

  • Stenographer Grade C: 18 to 30 years as of 01.01..2022 i.e. candidates born not before 02-01-1992 and not later than 01-01-2004 are eligible to apply.
  • Stenographer Grade D: 18 to 27 years as of 01.01.2022 i.e. candidates born not before 02-01-1995 and not later than 01-01-2004 are eligible to apply.

Nationality

All aspiring applicants must also fulfil the qualifying requirements for their country of origin. A candidate must be a citizen of one of the following countries/must meet the citizenship requirements of one of the following countries:

  2. A person of Indian origin who has migrated from one of the following countries:-

Candidates who fall into categories 2, 3, 4, and 5 will get a certificate of eligibility from the Indian government.

SSC Stenographer Eligibility For Ex-Servicemen 

The following are the eligibility requirements for ex-servicemen competing in SSC Stenographer 2024:

  • Person (including personnel of Territorial Army) who have been discharged after completing the stipulated time of service, or at his request, or dismissed on grounds of misbehavior or inefficiency and have been awarded a gratuity (pension holders).
  • A person who has served as a Combatant or Non-Combatant in the Army, Navy, and Air Force of the Indian Union.
  • Gallantry Award Winners of the Armed Forces
  • Person relieved on medical grounds with medical disability pension
  • Personnel who had spent more than six months on deputation in the Army Postal Service before April 14, 1987.
  • Candidates of the Army Postal Service who have served as a part of the Regular Army and retired from the Army Postal Service or are released from the Army Postal Service  on medical ground with medical or another disability pension

Candidates serving as a Service Clerk in the last year of their military service.  Only jobs at Armed Forces Headquarters and the Inter-Service Organisation will be open to such individuals. Sons, daughters, and dependents of ex-servicemen will not be eligible for an age reduction.

SSC Stenographer Reservations

Reservation for ST/SC/OBC/PH i.e.(Persons with disabilities)/Ex-servicemen etc. categories is available as per the Indian Government norms.

Posts of both Grade C and Grade D have been identified as suitable for persons who are suffering from disabilities of One Leg(OL), One Arm(OA), Both Legs (BL), Blind(B), and LV (Low Vision)

Candidates who are hearing impaired are not eligible for this post.

SSC Stenographer Notification 2024 – Syllabus

The SSC Constable syllabus consists of 3 sections which are General Awareness, General Intelligence & Reasoning, and English Language & Comprehension. The exam is of 2 hours duration and has 200 questions. The detailed syllabus is as follows.

It would include questions of both verbal and nonverbal type.

The test will also include questions designed to test the candidate’s abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationship, arithmetical computation and other analytical functions.

General Awareness

Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its Neighboring countries especially about Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity including the Indian Constitution, Scientific Research, etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.

English Language & Comprehension

In addition to the testing of candidates’ understanding of the English Language, its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms, and its correct usage, etc. his/ her writing ability, would also be tested.

The SSC Stenographer Recruitment Examinations will have 2 stages – Online computer-based exams and skill Tests.

Skill Test – Pattern

The candidates who are shortlisted in the Computer Based Examination will be required to appear in the Skill Test for Stenography, which includes :

  • Dictation for 10 minutes in English or Hindi (as opted by the candidates in the online Application Form) at the speed of 100 words per minute (wpm) for the post of Stenographer Grade “C” and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade “D”.
  • The matter will have to be transcribed on a computer. The transcription time is as follows:

SSC Stenographer Admit Card – Download Link

The SSC Stenographer 2024 admit card will be available for download on ssc.nic.in. Separate admit cards will be issued for the CBT Exam and Skill Test. Candidates can access their admit cards by using their registration number and password. Ensure to keep track of the official website for updates and follow the instructions to download and carry the admit card to the examination center. It is a mandatory document for appearing in the SSC Stenographer Exam, so make sure to have it ready for a smooth examination process.

Steps to Download the SSC Stenographer Admit Card

The following are the steps to be followed to download the SSC Stenographer 2024 Admit Card.

  • Candidates should visit the official website of SSC and click on ‘Admit Card’ appearing on the upper-left side of the home page. They can also click on the link https://doc.ssc.nic.in/Portal/AdmitCard to download the admit card from regional websites. 
  • Click on the URL of the Regional Websites under whose jurisdiction the selected centers of examination in the application form are located. 
  • On the homepage of the Regional Website, click on the ‘Admit Card‘ or ‘Download Admit Card’ tab to get access to the Admit card. 
  • Fill in the required credentials such as Registered ID, Date of Birth, or Candidate’s and Candidate’s Father’s Name along with the date of birth to download the PDF of Admit card. 
  • Take two printouts of the Admit Card PDF. 

SSC Stenographer Exam 2024 – Documents You Need To Carry

Candidates are also required to carry at least two passport-size recent photographs along with valid photo-ID proof possessing a Date of Birth similar to that mentioned on the admit card and printout of the admit card. The Commission has notified the valid photo-ID proof to be carried to the examination hall in the notification that includes: 

  • Driving License
  • PAN Card
  • Passport
  • Aadhar Card or Printout of E-Aadhar Card
  • Voter’s ID Card
  • School/ College ID Card
  • Employer ID Card whether given by Government or PSU or Private Company
  • Ex-Serviceman Discharge Book provided by Defence Ministry (For candidates who are Ex-Serviceman)
  • Central or State Government issued ID card having a photo on it.

Important Points to Remember

Candidates should note that any mismatch in date of birth mentioned in photo-ID proof and admit card will lead to their disallowance from appearing for the examination. The person with disabilities, who is using the scribe for examination, shall carry a Medical Certificate/Undertaking/Photocopy of the original Scribe’s ID proof. 

Candidates while submitting the application form should pay attention to the quality of images of their signature and photograph uploaded by them. Downgrade or blurred photographs and signatures or any one of them in the application form will lead to the rejection of their application. Since these details appear on the admit card of the candidates they enable the Supervisor to cross-verify the candidates’ identity.

After clearing the CBT, the candidates will be issued an SSC Stenographer Admit Card for skill test and document verification which they should carry along with them while appearing for these stages of the selection process.

SSC Stenographer Salary

The salary of the SSC- Stenographer varies according to their grade. The salary of the Stenographer Grade C is more than the Stenographer Grade D. The Grade C Stenographer is also provided DA (Dearness Allowance), HRA (House Rent Allowance), and TA (Traveling Allowance).

The salary for both  posts Grade- C and Grade- D stenographer is mentioned below:

SSC Stenographer 2024 – Job Profile

Before applying for the recruitment you must have knowledge about the responsibilities and duties of a Stenographer and also the returns it offers. The job responsibilities of a stenographer depend on the Grade and the place of Posting. Their main job is to assist their supervisors or seniors in various Government departments and ministries. The job responsibilities and duties are:

  • Speech Writing: To write down the speeches given by their senior officials
  • Briefing: To attend press conferences and to provide input for making short notes and issuing press releases.
  • Assisting an Officer or Minister: To assist the senior officers and ministers in smooth functioning.
  • Help in PR (Public Relations): The Government stands through PROs (Public Relations Officers) to clarify.
