Success Story of Ankit Singh (Cleared SBI PO 2017)

Ankit Singh
In his own words,
Hello friends, I’m Ankit Singh. I have done B.tech (computer science and engineering) from Guru Nanak dev engineering college, Ludhiana. I graduated in 2015, after which I joined TCS in September. I worked for 6 months in TCS, I resigned on 23rd March 2016. Thereafter I started preparing for UPSC civil service. SBI PO was the only banking exam that I gave and by God’s grace, I cleared that.
I was also qualified for the UPSC assistant commandants written exam but did not give the interview.
Preparation Strategy
You can get numerous strategies online by different people who have qualified SBI PO.
This is what I followed.Quantitative Aptitude – I followed Arun Sharma cover to cover and nothing elseLogical Reasoning – I solved LR booklets meant for CAT prep containing questions of verbal reasoning. I also solved 1 puzzle on a daily basis from the book “Puzzles and teasers” by George R summers.

Verbal Ability – I did nothing much apart from reading the newspaper daily (THE HINDU/INDIAN EXPRESS)

GK: Static – You can read banking awareness by Arihant publication (you can skip this portion too as only 4-5 questions out of 40 are there from the static portion and that too you can answer 2-3 if you are reading the daily newspaper)

Current Awareness – Just blindly mug up monthly current affairs magazines of past 3 months (time calculated from the day of prelims) any one of Affairs cloud or Gk today.

Mock Tests – Oliveboard only
This is not for promotion. I can assure you all that the best Mock Test Series available in the market for SBI PO or any other banking exam is that of OLIVEBOARD.
I extensively used only Oliveboard Mock Test Series for both prelims and mains.
Analyze mocks properly after giving them for continuous improvement.

Note: Revise all the GK questions from mocks a day before mains exam. At least 6-7 GK questions were directly repeated from the Oliveboard Mock Test Series.

Group Discussion and Personal Interview – Don’t think much about it at this stage. But, believe me, it is the best stage where your true personality is judged. Just read the newspaper daily and prepare your resume and include your past work.

You can make daily schedule similar to this:

1) 50-60 Quantitative Aptitude Questions

2) 5 Sets of Data Interpretation

3) 5 Sets of Logical Reasoning + 1 Puzzle from Puzzle Book + 5 Questions of Verbal Reasoning

4) 1-1.5 Hours of Daily Newspaper Reading

5) Read 50 Pages of a Novel or a good book

Take 2 to 3 Prelims Mock Tests daily with complete analysis
Read the Newspaper, novels, books

NOTE : ABOVE strategy is assuming you are preparing full time for SBI PO without any job/other exam preparation.

Hope this will be of help in creating your study plan.
All the best to all the aspirants.
