‘When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the aeroplane takes off against the wind not with it’. Read the success story of Shashank Shukla who cleared RRB PO with just two months of preparation.
“Hi Everyone, I am Shashank Shukla from Uttar Pradesh. I have cleared the RRB Officer Scale I in the year 2017 and is currently working at Baroda UP Gramin Bank as a Scale I officer.
My journey towards government examination started in the year 2016, after completing my graduation. I started my preparation keeping SSC CGL as a target but later shifted to the banking sector, due to the slow recruitment process, as I wanted to kick start my professional career as soon as possible. This spark within me helped me to take that extra mile and with just two months of preparation, I was able to clear the RRB Officer Scale I exam.
The strategy which I followed was:
Quants: I worked on the basics of mathematics by making use of SSC Mathematics by Rakesh Yadav. After that only thing which I did was taking speed tests by Oliveboard. This step of mine helped me gaining confidence and helped me by boosting up my calculation speed which is required for clearing any competitive examination. I gave enough mock tests, did required analysis, worked upon my weaknesses and that’s it. I believe for clearing any competitive examination strategy matters the most rather than the number of hours. Follow the right set of strategy and you will be through.
Logical Reasoning: Here again, I simply followed speed test by Oliveboard and cleared this section without any hassle. The one thing which I would like to point out for this section is your practice. It plays a very important role. The more you practice better you become. So, keep practising.
I chose Hindi as my preferred language over English, as I am good at Hindi. For the preparation part, I did nothing special than taking a mock test.
General Awareness: For the banking awareness, static GK and current affairs, I followed affairs cloud and a few other online resources. I made use of the monthly capsules for the current affairs and used to take online quizzes during my free time.
Interview: I was asked typical HR questions like Why you want to join the banking sector etc., followed by few banking awareness questions like what repo rate is etc., I feel interview is an easy hurdle which can be cleared easily if you are confident about your knowledge and know how to articulate your thoughts process well.
For all the would-be bankers who are reading my story, I will only say If I can, so do you. Just follow the right set of strategy.
All the Best!”
