“Hi Friends! I am Sumit from Jammu and Kashmir, I have been selected in Canara Bank and SSC IMD

After graduating in 2016 as a Computer Science Engineer, my brother suggested me to go to Government Sector due to various reasons, therefore, I started preparing for the government exams.

My first exam was SBI PO 2016 (12 days after completing my graduation), which I failed to clear the cutoff by 0.5 marks. At that point, my brother recommended me OliveBoard test series for IBPS PO and RRB exams. Then in IBPS PO 2016 I passed the prelims but could not crack mains due to some technical glitch in the exam. I managed to clear mains of RRB Officer Scale-1 2016, but could not crack it finally.

My brother supported and motivated me to appear again and recommended me ‘OliveBoard’ test series because cracking exam is not only knowledge but practice, analysis, accuracy, and luck. Why I mentioned luck is because I crack many written exams but failed in the last round.

Exams Qualified – RBI assistant(pre)2017, IBPS RRB OS-1(mains)2016/multipurpose 2017, IB-ACIO(mains)2017, BOB-PGBDF2017, SSC-CGL (tier 2)2017

Final Selection- IBPS 2017 (Canara Bank) and SSC IMD 2017

Waiting for results of SSC CHSL 2017 and SBI PO/Clerk (Mains) 2018

Now, coming to the detailed strategy which I followed wholeheartedly to clear the exams:

I always had the upper hand in Quantitative Aptitude, but for SSC exams I used to solve whole Kiran publications previous yearbook and go through all type of basic questions and then for Banking exams I only relied on OliveBoard mock tests. The quality of questions they provide matches the level of actual exam level and their detailed analysis after mock test helped me a lot.

For Reasoning, I followed two BSC publications books. One is Magical Books for Puzzles, it gives you an idea of how many types of puzzles are there and how to solve them, after getting a basic idea I started giving daily mock tests for reasoning in various online platforms and the other book – Analytical Reasoning book for topics like assumptions, evaluating inferences, data sufficiency, cause, and effect etc.

For Banking Exam English section I read only 1 article daily through online resources, and to improve my vocabulary I used to write 10 new words after each article. But for SSC exams I followed Wren and Martin’s book for grammar rules, which helped me in error detection questions of banking exams.

For General Awareness section (Banking Exam), I divided this section into three parts:

Static, Banking Awareness and Current Affairs

For the static part, I consider it as a one-time investment. Make notes on all the topics with tricks to remember them

Banking Awareness – Arihant‘s book for banking awareness

Current Affairs – For current affairs I simply relied on youtube channels, after watching them monthly mock from Affairscloud and in the last mock test from OliveBoard to revise all the three parts

General Science (SSC Exam) – General Knowledge book by Manohar Pandey

And OliveBoard’s special edition of GroupStudy helped me a lot to increase my speed. Even after cracking exams I still participate in group study, if you are active members of Oliveboard then you must have seen me (purisumit33) participating. It helped me to improve my speed and accuracy.

The last thing I believe is that cracking exam is not about how many hours/months or years you prepare, it is all about mindset. If you want it, go and get it. Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. It’s an honor for me that OliveBoard gave me a chance to share my strategy which can help many aspirants to achieve their goals.

Thank you Oliveboard

Hope this helps!
