UPSC IES Age Limit 2024

Candidates applying for the UPSC Engineering Services Examination (ESE) should be at least 21 years old but not exceed 30 years as of 1st January 2024. In simpler terms, the candidate’s birth date must be between 2nd January 1994 and 1st January 2003 to meet the age eligibility criteria for the examination. However, some age relaxations are applied for the candidates who are eligible.

Person with Benchmark Disability viz. Low vision, deaf and Hard of Hearing, Locomotor Disability including Leprosy cured, Dwarfism, Acid Attack victims, Muscular Dystrophy, Specific Learning Disability and Mental Illness.10

UPSC IES Nationality/Citizenship

A candidate must be either:
(a) a citizen of India, or
(b) a subject of Nepal, or
(c) a subject of Bhutan, or
(d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
(e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka or East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or from Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Note:
Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above shall be a person in whose Favour, a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India and that a candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary, may be admitted to the examination but the offer of appointment shall be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him/her by the Government of India.

IES Eligibility Criteria for Ex-Serviceman

A candidate may be eligible for a relaxation in age limit if they hold a significant permanent position in the relevant Department/Office. This relaxation is not applicable to probationers appointed to permanent positions during their probation period. However, if a probationer has a lien on a permanent position in a Department/Office supervised by specific authorities, they may still be eligible for this waiver. Additionally, candidates in continuous temporary employment on a regular basis in the specific Department/Office for at least three years by January 1, 2023, may also qualify for this relaxation. The age limit relaxation is extended up to 35 years for candidates working in following departments: –

1. What is the age limit for IES Exam 2024?

There is not any attempt limit for IES 2024 but the candidate attaining maximum age cannot be eligible for the exam.

3. Are final year students eligible for the IES Exam 2024?

Yes, according to the notification, the final year students are allowed. However, they should have their passing certificate at the time of the document verification.

4. Is there any passing percentage of degree required for IES Exam 2024?

As of now, there is not any conditions for degree passing percentage marks. The candidate should have a valid passing certificate of bachelor’s in engineering.

5. How much extra time has been given for the Persons with Benchmark Disabilities?

The Persons with Benchmark Disabilities in the category of Low Vision will be allowed Compensatory Time of 20 minutes per hour of the examination.
