ISRO will be launching their first Solar Mission, Aditya -L1 on 2nd September 2023 from SDSC, Sriharikota.
Aditya-L1, will be the first space-based Indian observatory to study the Sun.
L1 refers to Lagrangian/Lagrange Point 1, one of five points in the orbital plane of the Earth-Sun system.
The Aditya L1 Mission's goals include analyzing the Sun's photosphere using soft and solid X-rays, investigating the chromosphere with UV observations, and maintaining round-the-clock imaging of the Sun.
Covering an impressive 1.5 million km journey, the spacecraft will reach the Lagrange 1 (L1) point, nestled between the Earth and the Sun—almost four times the distance traveled by Chandrayaan missions.
