WORLD SPACE  WEEK  2023

October 4th to October 10th is observed as World Space Week.

As per the United Nations (UN), it is:

An international celebration of science and technology, and their contribution to the betterment of the human condition

Here are a few facts about World Space Week.

ORIGIN

In 1999, the UN declared 4th to 10th October as World Space Week.

The dates are important as 4th October 1957 was the launch of the first human-made satellite and 10th October 1967 was the signing of the Outer Space Treaty.

ORIGIN

World Space Week is the largest space event in the world, celebrated in about 95 countries.

It is organised by the World Space Week Association (WSWA) and the United Nations.

THEME

The theme for World Space Week 2023 is "Space and Entrepreneurship".

The theme aims to start a conversation and raise awareness about the growing commercial space industry and the impact that it will have on space science and its advancements.
