It is considered the most prestigious job in the banking sector and lakhs of aspirants take this exam every year with a dream of becoming an RBI Grade B officer. But only a few manage to fulfill this dream. One of them is Hardik Mehta who went on to score <strong>All-India Rank 1<\/strong> in <strong>RBI Grade B 2016 exam<\/strong>. I was the topper of the Management Aptitude Test (MAT) conducted by AIMA. Apart from this, I have also cleared UGC-NET (Management) in my first attempt, pursued CAIIB (Treasury Management, 1st Class), and scored over 90% in various NCFM Certifications on Capital Markets, Options, Commodity Markets, Banking, etc.<\/span> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"My_Strategy_for_RBI_Grade_B_2016_Phase_1\"><\/span><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #008080;\">My Strategy for RBI Grade B 2016 Phase 1<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I attempted 70 questions of <strong>GK<\/strong> in flat 10 minutes. 25 questions in <strong>English<\/strong> took another 10 minutes. The remaining time was used to shuttle between the <strong>Quant<\/strong> &amp; <strong>Reasoning<\/strong> sections. For Phase 1, I was dependent solely on <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oliveboard.in\/rbi-grade-b\/?ref=contss-rbi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Oliveboard\u2019s Mock Tests<\/span><\/strong><\/a><\/span>. I found the level of tests very difficult and hence every time there was a lot of learning and scope for improvement. For <strong>GK<\/strong>, I used to read newspapers like <em>The Telegraph(Calcutta)<\/em>,<em> Economic Times<\/em>, <em>Mint Business Newspaper, <\/em>etc.<\/span> Along with reading the RBI Success Story &#8211; Hardik Mehta, download some free ebooks for your preparation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The maximum time of your preparation should be dedicated to the <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oliveboard.in\/rbi-grade-b\/?ref=contss-rbi\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>General Awareness<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/span> topic and you should try to maximize your score here because it covers a major portion of the Phase 1 exam. Your next focus should be on the <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oliveboard.in\/rbi-grade-b\/?ref=contss-rbi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>English section<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/span>. The remaining time should be dedicated to <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oliveboard.in\/rbi-grade-b\/?ref=contss-rbi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Quant<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/span> and <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.oliveboard.in\/rbi-grade-b\/?ref=RBI-blog\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Reasoning<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/span>. I also remember that RBI made a last-minute pattern change to Phase 2 just 10 days before the exam. I was really glad that Oliveboard in the first week of September 2016 had redesigned the mock tests as per the new pattern for RBI Grade B Exam (Phase 2). It showed that their think tank was very much keen to ensure that their students should get the knack of as many <strong>different types of questions<\/strong> as possible.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I would recommend that candidates first learn the <strong><em>basics of finance, economics &amp; management<\/em>&nbsp;<\/strong>and then appear for a few quality mock tests to determine where they stand as compared to others.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The candidate should not approach one topic at a time. After building a strong foundation, they should appear for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oliveboard.in\/rbi-grade-b\/?ref=RBI-blog\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>sectional Mock tests<\/strong><\/span><\/a> and once the entire syllabus is covered, only then they should go for the <em>complete mock test<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">For example, if you are reading a newspaper, do not read it just for the sake of it. Instead, try and understand each word to build your base.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Taking <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oliveboard.in\/rbi-grade-b\/?ref=RBI-blog\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mock tests<\/a> is a very important<\/strong> part of phase 2 exams. Again, just taking too many mock tests is not going to help. You should be analyzing each test as and when you take it up and accordingly work on your weaknesses and sharpen your skills.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>ESI<\/strong> section should be read in bits and parts because you need to understand the nitty-gritty and every term used in the content.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Candidates can refer to the following materials for Phase 2 preparation<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #666699;\">ESI:<\/span>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em>Indian Economy<\/em> by Ramesh Singh<\/span><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em>2. Indian Economy<\/em> by Mishra &amp; Puri<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Newspapers are a good source for current affairs but the static concepts are not covered. If you are not aware of something, do google it or find another source to know what it exactly means, and then move ahead.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #008080;\"><strong>RBI Grade B Interview Strategy<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">As far as the interview was concerned, my MBA course had helped me to some extent. Besides that, I followed the <strong>RBI website<\/strong> closely. Other things I did were:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Read a lot of books on <strong>Finance, Economy <\/strong>and<strong> Banking<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Read newspapers to stay updated with <em>current affairs<\/em>.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Followed various websites like ICRA, CRISIL, and multiple rating agencies<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Watched Business news channels and also read Business magazines.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Read newspapers like <em>Economic Times, Business Standard, Business Line, Mint,<\/em> etc.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">All aspiring candidates must also listen to the governor&#8217;s speeches in the last couple of years on <strong>major economic decisions<\/strong>. You should also have a knack for <strong>RBI reports<\/strong> (Quarterly, Half Yearly, and Annual)<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oliveboard.in\/rbi-grade-b\/?ref=RBI-blog\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>RBI Grade B preparation<\/strong><\/span><\/a> is not about the number of hours you put in, it\u2019s more about how strong your fundamentals are. You can also clear the exam if you spare two hours every day meticulously. Sometimes, even five hours won\u2019t be enough if you\u2019re not concentrating.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">So just forget about the past and make optimum use of the chance that you have got.
