He has served two full terms as Prime Minister of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA). Rajya Sabha member Manmohan Singh presided over the upper chamber from 1998 to 2004. He is currently serving his sixth term in the Rajya Sabha. He is well-known for his role in the 1991 LPG (Liberalization, Privatization, and Globalization) reforms in India as finance minister under the PV Narasimha Rao administration. Manmohan Singh was also the fifteenth governor of the Reserve Bank of India. Vajpayee was the minister of external affairs during the Morarji Desai administration. He is remembered for his efforts to improve India-Pakistan relations. Vajpayee served in the Rajya Sabha twice, from 1962 to 1967 and again from 1986 to 1991, in addition to being elected to the Lok Sabha ten times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was one of the original founders of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, which eventually evolved into the Bharatiya Janata Party, whose inaugural president was Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He presided over the Pokhran 2 nuclear testing in 1988.
