{"id":11455,"date":"2017-08-03T13:25:59","date_gmt":"2017-08-03T13:25:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.oliveboard.in\/blog\/?p=11455"},"modified":"2017-08-03T13:27:20","modified_gmt":"2017-08-03T13:27:20","slug":"ibps-po-2017-banking-awareness-notes-important-financial-terms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oliveboard.in\/blog\/ibps-po-2017-banking-awareness-notes-important-financial-terms\/","title":{"rendered":"IBPS PO 2017 Banking Awareness Notes : Important Financial Terms"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In this post we bring to you the most important financial terms which are asked in the general awareness section of various banking exams such as those conducted by the IBPS.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>1) Standard Assets<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Standard assets\u00a0are those which\u00a0do not disclose any problems and which do not carry more than normal risk attached to the business. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>2) Sub-standard Assets<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">An asset classified as an NPA ( non-performing asset ) for less than a period of 12 months is known as a sub-standard asset.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oliveboard.in\/ibps-po\/?ref=blogdc\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-11438 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.oliveboard.in\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/IBPS-300x250.png\" alt=\"IBPS\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.oliveboard.in\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/IBPS-300x250.png 300w, https:\/\/www.oliveboard.in\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/IBPS-150x125.png 150w, https:\/\/www.oliveboard.in\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/IBPS.png 336w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>3) Doubtful Assets<\/strong> <\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The assets that have been classified as NPAs for a period of more than 12 months are referred to as doubtful assets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>4) Loss Assets<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">An asset which is considered uncollectible and loss has been identified by the bank or internal or external auditors or the RBI inspection and the loss has not been written off is regarded as loss asset.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>5) Core Banking Solutions (CBS)<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Core banking<\/b> is a banking service provided by a group of networked bank branches where customers may access their bank account and perform basic transactions from any of the member branch offices.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Core banking is often associated with retail banking and many banks treat the retail customers as their core banking customers. Businesses are usually managed via the corporate banking division of the institution. Core banking covers basic depositing and lending of money.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">6) Prime Lending Rate<\/span> <\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A <b>prime rate<\/b> or <b>prime lending rate<\/b> is an interest rate used by banks, usually the interest rate at which banks lend to favored customers \u2014 i.e., those with good credit. Some variable interest rates may be expressed as a percentage above or below prime rate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>7) Special Drawing Rights (SDRs)<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Special Drawing Rights<\/b> are supplementary foreign-exchange reserve assets defined and maintained by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The SDR is the unit of account for the IMF, and is not a currency <i>per se<\/i>. It represents a claim to currency held by IMF member countries for which they may be exchanged. These companies earn income by charging service fees to their clients.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>10) <\/strong><strong>NDS OM : Negotiated Dealing System Order Matching<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It is an online anonymous bond trading platform of the central bank ( RBI\u00a0).\u00a0This is an order driven electronic system, where the participants can trade anonymously by placing their orders on the system or accepting the orders already placed by other participants. NDS-OM is operated by the Clearing Corporation of India Ltd.
