The CII for the financial year 2024-25, relevant to the assessment year 2025-26, stood at <strong>363<\/strong>. <strong>The Cost Inflation Index is used by taxpayers to compute gains arising out of the sale of capital assets after adjusting inflation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This notification will come into force with effect from the 1st day of April 2025. For the financial year 2023-24, the CII was set at 348. It is popularly used to calculate the <strong>&#8220;indexed cost of acquisition&#8221;<\/strong> while calculating capital gains at the time of sale of any capital asset. An asset is required to be retained for more than 36 months (24 months for immovable property and unlisted shares, 12 months for listed securities) to qualify as \u2019long-term capital gains\u2019. Since prices of goods increase over time resulting in a fall in the purchasing power, the CII is used to arrive at the inflation-adjusted purchasing price of assets so as to compute taxable long-term capital gains (LTCG).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"WCD_ministry_%E2%80%98officially_dissolves_Food_and_Nutrition_Board\"><\/span>WCD ministry &#8216;officially&#8217; dissolves Food and Nutrition Board<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A board responsible for providing technical and logistical support for the functioning of community nutrition programs has been <strong>&#8220;officially dissolved&#8221;<\/strong> as part of a plan for the rationalization of government bodies. <strong>The Food and Nutrition Board has been shut down by the Women and Child Development (WCD) Ministry.<\/strong> It was a technical wing of the ministry headquartered in Delhi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The board had a wide network of offices, including four regional offices and many quality control laboratories in Faridabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai. The activities of the FNB were officially closed as per a gazette notification dated June 16, 2021. The formal dissolution was approved on Nov 30 last year. It was the first airport in the country to receive this &#8216;prestigious recognition&#8217;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ZWL assessment verified that Thiruvananthapuram International Airport implemented the best waste management practices and achieved a 99.50% waste diversion from landfill. It is the <strong>first cyclone over the Bay of Bengal in this pre-monsoon season<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The cyclone that is hurtling towards the West Bengal and Bangladesh coastlines with landfall has been named \u2018Remal\u2019 as per the standard convention of naming tropical cyclones in the region. The IMD follows a specific naming convention for tropical cyclones forming in the North Indian Ocean, including the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The name <strong>\u201cRemal\u201d, means \u201csand\u201d in Arabic<\/strong>. The name was given by Oman. Cyclone Remal is the first pre-monsoon cyclone in the Bay of Bengal this season. In view of the effective cyclone warning and disaster mitigation in the North Indian Ocean region, the WMO came together in 1972 to establish the Panel on Tropical Cyclones (PTC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The PTC originally comprised eight member nations \u2014 Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Myanmar, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Sultanate of Oman and Thailand.
