Read the success story of Anshul sharma , who went onto clear RBI Grade B 2018<\/a><\/span> in his third attempt. Anshul always believed that every failure has something in store for him and knew that Success does not lie in \u201cResults\u201d but in \u201cEfforts\u201d.<\/b><\/p>\n

Brief about Anshul:<\/b><\/p>\n

My name is Anshul Sharma and graduated as a Computer Science Engineer in 2008. Post that I worked for Oracle for 2 years and then pursued MBA (Finance) from Nirma University Ahmedabad (2010-2012). I got placed in ICICI Bank from the campus and worked there from May 2012 to March 2015. I cleared SBI’s Special Management Executive Examination, held in September 2014 and joined SBI in April 2015 as a Scale II Officer (Deputy Manager – Mid Corporate Group). I started preparing for RBI Grade B<\/strong><\/a><\/span> examination while working for SBI only. <\/span><\/p>\n

It was a strategic decision as a profile in RBI will only add to my banking experience. ICICI and SBI were all about implementation of policies while RBI is of framing policies. I was able to clear 3 examinations with the\u00a0 help of the preparations done for RBI Grade B 2018<\/strong><\/a><\/span> examination. I successfully cracked RBI Grade B 2018 this year. I am presently working for National Cooperative Development Corporation (Financial Institution under Ministry of Agriculture & Farmer’s Welfare) as Deputy Director Finance since April 2019. <\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Exams that I have cleared:<\/b><\/p>\n

1- RBI Grade B<\/strong> (DR – General) 2018. Rank: 63. Result declared on 20.02.2019.<\/span><\/p>\n

2- National Cooperative Development Corporation (Deputy Director – Finance). The exam was held for a single seat all over India, which was secured by me. Result declared on 21.01.2019<\/span><\/p>\n

3- RBI Grade B<\/strong> (Specialist – Finance) 2018. Rank: 5. Result declared on 28.02.2019\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Details on my journey:<\/b><\/p>\n

I made up my mind to take RBI Grade B<\/strong><\/a><\/span> examination in 2017 and started preparing for it from March 2017. Unfortunately, the notification came in the next month, unprecedentedly earlier than the previous trends. I was preparing for Phase-1 only at that time and had less time for Phase-2 preparation due to my hectic job in SBI. I gave Phase-1 2017 on June 17th 2017 and was able to clear it. I gave Phase-2 but due to lack of preparation, I\u00a0 couldn’t sail through. However, this attempt helped me in getting an idea about the type of questions which come in Phase-2 of RBI Grade B<\/strong><\/a><\/span> examination. I started preparing for Grade B 2018 from November 2017 and studied diligently for it.<\/span><\/p>\n

My strategy & my advice for aspirants regarding Grade B exam is: “Minimum Sources and Maximum Revision”. I also focused mainly on Static Economy and Current Affairs<\/strong><\/a><\/span> (last 5 months) because these form a major chunk of Phase-1 examination. The same also form a good part of ESI Section and Finance<\/span><\/strong><\/a> (1 marker) Section of Phase-2 examination. I didn’t hop on to different sources and focused on fixed sources only for my preparation.<\/span><\/p>\n

My tip for aspirants to crack this examination is: Competition is the essence of this examination. So, in case you are a working candidate, try to make time for your preparation. Atleast 2 months of preparation is required for this examination. For Phase-1, try to select questions as per your forte and don’t try to solve each and every question which you come across.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Aptitude, English and Logical Reasoning were prepared through regular practice. My experience of clearing CAT examination by 96 %ile also came in handy to handle the speed and time related pressures of Phase-1. Oliveboard’s Mock tests<\/strong><\/a><\/span> and Topic Tests also helped me in providing enough quantity of practice questions. RBI website (especially Notifications and Press Releases) must be checked for the last 5 months. GK \/ GA were prepared through self study and going through Current Affairs<\/strong><\/a><\/span> websites on a daily basis.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Interview<\/b>:<\/b> About interview, I would like to bust the myth that UPSC people are preferred for selection. This is not the case. Actually people with some work experience background are usually preferred for this post as it is a Manager level post. For interview, regular reading of newspapers (economy news especially) help a lot but more than that one should be thorough with his work experience profile. A lot of questions will come from this. I also thoroughly went through the “Functions and Working of RBI” which also helped me a lot.<\/span><\/p>\n

How was Oliveboard Helpful?<\/b><\/p>\n

I used the Mock Tests<\/strong><\/a><\/span> as well as Topic Tests of Oliveboard<\/strong><\/a><\/span> during my 2017 and 2018 attempts of Phase-1. Topic Tests helped me in revision of the concepts of QA, LR and ENG. They also helped in improving my speed and gave a clear idea about the topics which were my forte. Mock tests<\/strong><\/a><\/span> gave me a real time simulation of exam room. I was able to properly plan my Phase-1 paper and helped me in securing 121.25 marks with 39 marks in LR.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

So never lose patience and hope. If you can manage to keep yourself dedicated then half your work is already sorted.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
