This nervousness experienced before an exam is commonly known as \u2018Exam Anxiety\u2019. Every student goes through a lot of anxiety during his\/her preparation phase. We understand that very well, so here in this blog we will talk about Anxiety and ways to overcome it.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><b>What is ANXIETY?<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a normal reaction \u2013 apprehension, tension, or uneasiness \u2013 to any perceived threat or anticipation of danger. If we believe something important to us is being threatened, and <\/span><span style=\"color: #fa5914;\"><b><i>we overestimate the threat, underestimate our ability to cope with it<\/i><\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and then we feel anxious. <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Exam anxiety often involves apprehensions of performing at levels below those at which we\u2019d like to perform, or even apprehensions of failure.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Some things that increase exam anxiety levels are:<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong><em>Insufficient Preparation<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Cramming before the night of the examination and unfinished\/ uncovered syllabus are some factors that contribute to rising anxiety levels.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>\u00a0<em>Worrying<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Worrying about the consequences of poor performance in the exam and past performances or comparing yourself with others are the factors that cause exam anxiety.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong><em>Stimulant Use<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Apart from the above mentioned reasons excessive intake of caffeinated drinks like tea and coffee can add to the anxiety levels.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><b>Not All Exam Anxiety Is Bad<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">A certain amount of exam anxiety keeps us energized, motivated and focused. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">But too much anxiety, which is often the case, can interfere with exam performance by blocking our thinking abilities and by fostering negative states of mind.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Thus, we have come up with a list of 5 sure-fire ways that will keep a check on those anxiety levels and help you give your 100% on the \u2018D-day\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><b>1. Put things (EXAMS) into perspective<\/b><\/span><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">More often than not, we start thinking of exams as a matter of life and death. Exams are most definitely not that!\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Refrain from pinning all your hopes onto one test.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">These tests may be decisive for your future but only for some time. For instance, instead of thinking about the consequences of poor performance in the exam, think about what will happen once you\u2019ve passed the test with flying colours. Get proper sleep during your preparation<\/b><\/span><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Most people tend to compromise on their sleeping hours in order to prepare for an upcoming exam. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">This practice does more harm than good. Thus, it is important to start preparing well ahead of the exam and plan effectively so as to get the required hours of sleep.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><b>4. Reduce Anxiety by being Physically Active<\/b><\/span><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Stretching, going out for a walk, exercising, meditating, taking regular breaks during studying etc. are some activities that are well known stress busters.
