He is the first citizen of India and acts as the symbol of unity, integrity, and solidarity of the nation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The office of the President is created by Article 52 in Part V of the constitution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The President is the formal head of the executive, legislature, and judiciary of India and is also the commander-in-chief of the Indian Armed Forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The President must be a citizen of India, older than 35 years of age, and qualified for election as a member of the Lok Sabha. The President\u2019s term of office is five years, and he is eligible for re-election. His removal from office must be in accordance with the procedure prescribed in Article 61 of the Constitution. The functions performed and the powers given to the President can be categorized into the following :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Executive Power<\/li><li>Legislative Power<\/li><li>Financial Power<\/li><li>Judicial Power<\/li><li>Diplomatic Power<\/li><li>Military Power<\/li><li>Emergency Power<\/li><li>Ordinance Making Power<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Executive Power of President<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>All executive actions of the Indian Government are formally taken in the President\u2019s name.<\/li><li>The President can make the rules to simplify the business transaction of the Central Government.<\/li><li>The President appoints the following people :<ul><li>Prime Minister and council of ministers on the recommendation of the Prime minister<\/li><li>Attorney General of India and also decides his remuneration<\/li><li>Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG)<\/li><li>Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners<\/li><li>Chairman and members of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC)<\/li><li>Governors of states<\/li><li>Chairman and members of Finance Commission of India&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>He appoints the National commission of :<ul><li>Schedule Caste (SC)<\/li><li>Schedule Tribe (ST)<\/li><li>Other Backward Class (OBC)<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>The President also appoints the inter- state councils .<\/li><li>The President can declare any area as a Scheduled area and he also has the power to respect the administration of Schedule area and tribal areas.<\/li><li>The President can seek reports from the Prime minister on administrative matters.<\/li><li>He directly administers the union territories through administrators appointed by him.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"2\"><li><strong>Legislative Powers of President<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The President can summon the Parliament and can also dissolve the Lok Sabha.<\/li><li>He addresses the Parliament\u2019s First session after every General Election.<\/li><li>He appoints the :&nbsp;<ul><li>Speaker and Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha<\/li><li>Chairman and Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>He also nominates :<ul><li>2 Anglo-Indian members of Lok Sabha<\/li><li>12 members of Rajya Sabha<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Prior recommendation of the President is needed to introduce certain bills including money bill &amp; finance bill.<\/li><li>A bill passed by the parliament becomes an act only after the president has given assent to it.
