His experience reflects the resilience and focused strategy required to succeed in one of the most competitive exams in the banking sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Heres_Adityas_IBPS_SO_IT_Officer_Success_Story\"><\/span>Here&#8217;s Aditya&#8217;s IBPS SO IT Officer Success Story<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Aditya began his preparation journey in August 2015. Like many aspirants, his path was not straightforward. He appeared in multiple government exams before finally achieving success in the IBPS SO (IT Officer) exam. These attempts were not failures but stepping stones that helped him understand the pattern, refine his preparation strategy, and build resilience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are the exams he attempted before finally succeeding:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>NABARD \u2013 Cleared Prelims and Mains but missed out in the interview<\/li><li>SBI Clerk \u2013 Cleared<\/li><li>SBI PO \u2013 Could not clear the Mains<\/li><li>LIC AAO \u2013 Did not clear, but it helped him understand the pattern of GA questions<\/li><li>RBI Grade B \u2013 Could not clear the Mains<\/li><li>IBPS PO \u2013 Cleared but did not join<\/li><li>IBPS SO IT Officer \u2013 Finally selected and joined Punjab National Bank<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Section-wise_Preparation_Strategy\"><\/span>Section-wise Preparation Strategy<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Aditya followed a methodical, subject-wise strategy tailored to the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oliveboard.in\/ibps-so-notification\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IBPS SO Exam<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Quantitative_Aptitude\"><\/span>Quantitative Aptitude<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As a science graduate, Aditya found Quantitative Aptitude to be his strong area. He focused on intensive practice using R.S. Agarwal\u2019s book, which he completed three times. He ensured that he practiced every question, including those at the end of each chapter, to build speed and accuracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Reasoning_Ability\"><\/span>Reasoning Ability<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Reasoning became stronger over time with consistent practice. Puzzles were the most challenging part, but also the most scoring. According to Aditya, solving all puzzles correctly on the exam day can often be enough to clear the section. His key takeaway here is simple: the more you practice, the more confident and accurate you become.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"English_Language\"><\/span>English Language<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Aditya considered English his comfort zone and did not spend excessive time preparing for it. However, he emphasized the value of reading The Hindu newspaper daily. It not only improved his comprehension and vocabulary but also kept him updated on current affairs, acting as a dual-purpose resource for English and General Awareness preparation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"General_Awareness\"><\/span>General Awareness<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Initially his weakest area, General Awareness became one of his strengths thanks to his experience with the LIC AAO exam. That attempt revealed the unpredictable nature of GA questions. He began following daily GA updates religiously from multiple online sources, eventually building a strong command over the section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Professional_Knowledge\"><\/span>Professional Knowledge<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This was the most crucial section of the IBPS SO (IT Officer) exam. Aditya focused primarily on three topics:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>DBMS (Database Management Systems)<\/strong> \u2013 <em>Fundamentals of Database Systems<\/em> by Elmasri &amp; Navathe<\/li><li><strong>Operating Systems<\/strong> \u2013 <em>Operating System Concepts<\/em> by Silberschatz, Galvin &amp; Gagne<\/li><li><strong>Networking<\/strong> \u2013 <em>Data Communications and Networking<\/em> by Forouzan<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Among these, DBMS proved to be the most significant, with nearly 60\u201370% of the questions in the exam coming from this area. Aditya advises aspirants to thoroughly revise these topics, focusing on theory rather than numerical problems, as the questions are largely theoretical in nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"General_Advice_to_Aspirants\"><\/span>General Advice to Aspirants<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Aditya encourages all aspirants to shift from traditional pen-and-paper study to <strong>online preparation<\/strong>, as exams today require speed and adaptability. He highlights the importance of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Solving <strong>mock tests regularly<\/strong><\/li><li>Spending time on <strong>detailed analysis<\/strong> of those mocks<\/li><li>Identifying three sections to focus on and turning them into strengths<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>According to him, success does not come just from hard work\u2014it comes from working hard in the <strong>right direction<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Role_of_Oliveboard\"><\/span>Role of Oliveboard<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Aditya credits a significant part of his success to Oliveboard\u2019s preparation platform. He made full use of their mock tests, sectional tests, and topic-wise practice questions. The platform acted as his online classroom for a year, helping him stay disciplined and focused.
