Adjectives define the word they are referring to (antecedent) in more detail, such as small, old, seven, deep, etc.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Examples:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Adjective before a noun:<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Anamika has a beautiful doll.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the above sentence, \u2018doll\u2019 is a noun and \u2018beautiful\u2019 is an adjective that defines the characteristic of the doll.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Adjective before a pronoun:<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Ram bought a car. It\u2019s a new one.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this example, \u2018one\u2019 is a pronoun, and \u2018new\u2019 is an adjective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In most cases, adjectives come before their antecedent (the word they modify). They may, however, appear elsewhere in the sentence. A bright boy won the award.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Predicatively:<\/strong> Amit is handsome. The winner was bright.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Adjectives are of the following types:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1. Adjective of Quality (Descriptive Adjective):<\/strong> It describes the characteristics of a person, an object, or a place.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Lara eats fresh fruits. He is a trustworthy individual.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2. Adjective of Quantity:<\/strong> It expresses the quantity (how much) of something, such as some milk, a lot of patience, etc. It provides an answer to the question, \u201cHow much?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>He handed me some cash.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3. Adjective of Numbers (Numerical Adjective):<\/strong> It specifies the number of items or shows how many people, things, or places are involved, as well as the order in which they appear, such as two pictures, five women, the first, second, or last painting, some apple, and so on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are two types of numeral adjectives:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Definite<\/strong> (<em>three, six, first, sixth, one dozen<\/em>) numeral adjectives<\/li><li><strong>Indefinite <\/strong>(<em>some, few, many, any<\/em>) numeral adjectives<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4. Possessive Adjective:<\/strong> It indicates ownership of something, someone, or somewhere. Exclamatory Adjective:<\/strong> When the word \u2018what\u2019 appears in an exclamatory sentence, it becomes an exclamatory adjective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Example: What a lovely painting! Positive Degree:<\/strong> When there is no comparison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Ravi is tall.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2. Comparative Degree:<\/strong> When there is a comparison between two things, places, or persons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Ravi is taller than Shweta.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3. Superlative Degree:<\/strong> It denotes the highest degree of quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Ravi is the tallest boy in the class.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Rules for Arranging Multiple Adjectives before a Noun<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Over three or four adjectives are rarely used before a noun unless they are extremely descriptive.
