The position of Deputy Superintendent of Police or Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) is presently state police officers that belong to the provincial police forces, either direct trainee at that rank or promoted from the inspector. The principal duties of the superintendent of Police are to put the force under his control properly trained, efficient and contented and to ensure by constant supervision that the prevention, investigation and detection of crime in his district are properly and efficiently dealt with by the Police force under his command.

Deputy Collector is a State Administrative Service officer in charge of administration and revenue collection of a sub-division in India.
