SNAP VARC Section Preparation- Important Dates, Sections

Symbiosis National Aptitude Test, known as SNAP is an entrance exam for admission in 24 MBA programs to 15 Symbiosis Institutes in the country. With this exam becoming more and more competitive, one first needs to focus more on high-scoring areas. And for that, here we are giving you a full roadmap for SNAP VARC Section preparation.

For admission in one of the reputed MBA programs in the country, almost 50,000 students go through SNAP EXAM for 2500 MBA seats in affiliated institutes. SNAP exam has now evolved from a paper-based exam to a computer-based exam. This year, SNAP TEST will be conducted in over 94 cities around India. It is important for getting admission into the MBA program of symbiosis because SNAP SCORE holds a 50% weightage in the final merit preparation. Despite the changes in the pattern of the exam, the exam is expected to be of the same difficulty as last year.

After checking the eligibility requirements. The candidate should can then appear in the exam after payment of the registration fees. Also, a candidate is allowed to appear in the exam, a maximum of 2 times. The highest score of these 2, will be considered for calculation for the final percentile. SNAP Test Sections

SNAP test has in total 3 sections. The latest change in SNAP Exam Pattern, like questions reducing from 120 to 60 and various other changes calls for a more focused and planned preparation. And for this, one needs to be aware of the various exam sections and their respective weightage. The total exam sections and their weightage is as follow: –

SNAP VARC Section

Verbal Reasoning and Reading Comprehension (VARC), is one of the most important sections of the SNAP Exam. Other sections due to their technical nature and trickiness, are infamous for their constant “Low scoring ability.” And if you are not from a technical background, the SNAP VARC section is a blessing in disguise for you. Weighing equivalent to 25% of the total marks of the exam, this often-ignored section can be a key for your admission to your favorite MBA program. VARC Section Details

Before starting your preparation, you should understand what exactly SNAP VARC Section consists of. SNAP VARC Section can be divided into two further parts, namely – (1) Verbal Ability (VA) and (2) Reading Comprehension (RC).

(1)   Verbal Ability (VA) – It has in total 5-6 questions. And the syllabus for this section is as follows-

      * Idioms, Phrases, Vocabulary usage. Synonyms, Antonyms, Fill in the Blanks.

      * Correction of Errors in sentences.

      * Jumbled Paragraph.

      * Core Grammar usage – Conditionals, Active Passive, Indirect Narration, etc.

(2)   Reading Comprehension (RC) – It has in total 5-6 questions. And syllabus for this section is as follows-

       * 2 Reading Comprehensions followed by 5-6 questions.

       * Reading comprehension topics are normally based on Facts, Literature, Current Affairs, etc.

       * The questions are directly related to Reading comprehension.

The SNAP VARC Section is of low to moderate difficulty level and comes with a mix of easy to moderately difficult questions. This section mainly depends on the candidate’s ability in reading comprehension and his/her vocabulary. So, start focusing on these two aspects of your preparation for acing SNAP VARC Section.

3. Now, coming to the most important part of any preparation – i.e., Practice. You need to practice reading comprehension and get in touch with the mythology of cracking a reading comprehension. Also practising will make your timing better and will ultimately help you to attempt your exam in a more time-efficient manner.
