Success Story of Prem Kumar, Cleared SBI Clerk 2023-24

Success Story of Prem Kumar: Hi, I’m Prem Kumar Show from Asansol, West Bengal. I graduated in Civil Engineering (B.Tech). After finishing my studies quickly, I started with sectional tests for the preliminary exams. Once I felt comfortable and was scoring around 80%, I moved on to the mains level questions. This step-by-step approach helped me steadily progress towards my goals in competitive exams.

Introduction

My name is Prem Kumar Show, and I am from Asansol, West Bengal. I have completed my B.Tech in Civil Engineering.

Prem Kumar – Preparation Journey

After college, I focused on preparing for the GATE exam, but after two years with no success, I decided to change my path. While others were securing bank jobs at 25, I started preparing for banking exams at that age. After a year of dedicated effort, I secured a job at IDBI Bank. However, my experience selling insurance there was the toughest time of my life. Despite the toxic culture, I persisted with my exam preparation, finding solace in meditation to cope. Now, I am thrilled to have been selected for a position at SBI, bringing immense joy to myself and my family.

Subject-Wise Preparation Strategy

I finished my course quickly and started taking sectional tests for the preliminary exams. When I felt confident with the preliminary questions and consistently scored around the 80%, I began tackling questions at the mains level.

English: Being a Hindi medium student, English posed a challenge for me. After completing my English course, I began taking topic-wise quizzes and then progressed to sectional tests. For six months, I diligently took daily sectional tests in English, averaging 20-25 tests per month. I also completed all available mains-level sectional tests on Oliveboard and a few other platforms to further strengthen my preparation.

GK / GA: For current affairs, I relied entirely on Oliveboard Bolt magazine due to its well-organized topics and comprehensive coverage of key news points. My strategy involved reading current affairs daily on the Oliveboard app, revising weekly, and at the end of each month, printing and revising the Bolt magazine thoroughly. In the four months leading up to the mains exam, I revised the magazine two more times. For static and banking affairs, I prepared concise notes from the course materials to supplement my preparation.

How Oliveboard helped you?

My 90% of my preparation journey was completed with the help of Oliveboard. I used their quizzes, topic-wise tests, sectional tests, as well as both preliminary and mains mock exams, which also covered current affairs comprehensively.

Tips for other Aspirants

  1. Invest in a good course rather than watching unhelpful YouTube videos. It saves time and helps with learning.
  2. Start taking tests on specific topics once you’ve covered 70% of the syllabus. Then move on to tests that cover entire sections. Keep doing these until you’re scoring between 80-85% in all subjects.
  3. After that, begin practicing with mock tests for lower-level clerk exams until you consistently score 80%. Then move up to tests for higher-level PO exams.
  4. Focus next on tests that cover the main sections of both clerk and PO exams.
  5. Follow this program for a year.
  6. At the same time, make sure to participate in exams.
  7. Review what’s been happening in the news for the last four months every day, every week, every month, and twice more during the exams.
  8. Practice daily meditation, use the law of manifestation, go for a 15-20 minute walk or run, and eat flaxseed every day.
