Central Water Commission (CWC) Launches ‘Floodwatch’ Mobile App

The Chairman of the Central Water Commission (CWC), Shri Kushvinder Vohra, unveiled the “FloodWatch” mobile application. The primary objective of this app is to utilize mobile phones as a medium to promptly share information about flood situations and forecasts with the general public, extending up to a span of 7 days in real-time.

Speaking to the audience during the app launch, Shri Vohra expressed his satisfaction in introducing “FloodWatch,” a mobile application designed to offer real-time updates on the flood situation across the nation and provide forecasts to the public.

Key Features of the Floodwatch Mobile App

The “FloodWatch” app incorporates cutting-edge technologies like satellite data analysis, mathematical modeling, and real-time monitoring to provide precise and timely flood forecasts. By using this app, users gain access to critical details about flood situations across the country. The app’s user-friendly interface ensures that anyone can easily stay informed and take necessary precautions during flood events.

About Central Water Commission (CWC)

The Central Water Commission (CWC) is a premier technical organization of the Government under the Ministry of Jal Shakti. It is responsible for the planning, development, and coordination of water resources in the country.

The CWC was established in 1953 under the Ministry of Irrigation and Power. It was reorganized in 1975 and placed under the Ministry of Water Resources. In 2019, the Ministry of Water Resources was renamed the Ministry of Jal Shakti.

The CWC has its headquarters in New Delhi and has regional offices in all the states and union territories of India. It also has a number of field stations and laboratories.
