- Senior State Government representatives from three states, on a rotation basis.
- Select national and state institutions involved in research.
- Representatives of turmeric farmers and exporters.
- A Secretary appointed by the Department of Commerce.

Turmeric Industry in India
- India holds a prominent position in the global turmeric industry, serving as the largest producer, consumer, and exporter of turmeric.
- In the 2022-23 season, India cultivated turmeric across 3.24 lakh hectares, resulting in a production of 11.61 lakh tonnes, which accounts for over 75% of the world’s turmeric production.
- The country boasts more than 30 different varieties of turmeric, cultivated in over 20 states.
- Leading turmeric-producing states in India include Maharashtra, Telangana, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu.
- India’s share in world trade for turmeric exceeds 62%.
- During the 2022-23 season, more than 380 exporters shipped 1.534 lakh tonnes of turmeric and turmeric products valued at 207.45 million USD to various international markets.
- Key export destinations for Indian turmeric include Bangladesh, UAE, USA, and Malaysia.
With the focused efforts of the National Turmeric Board, there is a strong expectation that turmeric exports from India will reach a substantial USD 1 billion by 2030. It will further cement India’s dominance in the global turmeric trade.
