Significance of IndiaSkills
During his address at the event, Shri Pradhan emphasized the significance of enhancing competency, emphasizing that acquiring degrees alone is insufficient. He underscored the importance of incorporating employable skills into education, which would boost the employability of the workforce in the job market.
- Shri Pradhan stressed the need to accord equal importance to competencies, applied knowledge, and hands-on training as crucial elements for leading in the 21st century.
- Shri Pradhan further emphasized the importance of mapping skill gaps to bridge the divide between academic degrees and practical skills.
- He pointed out that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 has initiated steps to introduce a blended model that combines degrees and competencies, offering flexibility and aligning with students’ preferences.
He called upon policymakers, the academic community and the industry to collaborate, turning it into a Janandolan (people’s movement) with the aim of realizing Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi‘s vision of making India a developed nation by 2047. Shri Pradhan underscored the connection between learning and earning, highlighting how the integration of these elements fosters skill development.
