The “Meri Maati Mera Desh” Campaign, launched on August 9, 2023, is a nationwide initiative aimed at paying homage to the courageous heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. Running from August 9 to August 30, 2023, this campaign encompasses a range of activities that will take place at the village and block levels, organized by local urban bodies as well as state and national authorities. This multifaceted campaign seeks to honor and remember the brave individuals who gave their lives for our country’s freedom and prosperity.
About Meri Maati Mera Desh Campaign
“Meri Maati Mera Desh,” with the inspiring tagline “Mitti ko Naman, Veeron ka Vandan,” is a remarkable nationwide initiative driven by the people’s participation to commemorate India’s 75 years of independence. This initiative serves as the grand finale of the Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav program. It’s a joyous celebration of the nation’s accomplishments, while also paying homage to our valiant heroes who safeguard our country. The campaign involves meaningful ceremonies conducted at various levels – village, Panchayat, Block, Urban Local Body, State, and National.
Through simple yet powerful actions, we reaffirm our connection with our nurturing earth and express reverence for our brave souls:
1) Dedication of Shilaphalakam – placing nameplates of our heroes.
2) Taking the Panch Pran Pledge.
3) Vasudha Vandan – creating Amrit Vatika with 75 indigenous tree saplings.
4) Veeron Ka Vandan – honoring freedom fighters and those who protect the nation, including their families.
5) Hoisting the National Flag and singing the National Anthem.
Mitti from villages across India will be collected at the block level and then brought to the Capital, accompanied by volunteers from each block, who will gather at Kartavya Path. An Amrit Vatika will be planted in the Capital, where the Honorable Prime Minister will lead volunteers in taking the Panch Pran pledge. The creation of the ‘Amrit Vatika’ holds a profound symbolization of our dedication to the vision of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ (One United, Supreme India). This initiative serves as a powerful way to express gratitude and unity while nurturing our environment and honoring our national heroes.
In order to foster widespread participation and encourage the spirit of ‘Jan-Bhagidari’ (people’s involvement), a dedicated website, https://merimaatimeradesh.gov.in, has been launched. This platform enables individuals to contribute by uploading selfies while holding soil or an earthen lamp, signifying their connection to the earth and their commitment to the collective well-being of our nation. It’s a digital avenue for every citizen to be part of this inspiring initiative and showcase their unity and pride in being a part of India’s remarkable journey.
