The National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (Divyangjan) and the National Book Trust, New Delhi, formalized their commitment to collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This partnership aims to establish a Universal Design Center for Reading in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, under the mentorship of the Secretary, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India. The center will showcase the National Book Trust’s extensive collection of publications and learning materials in various accessible formats, promoting equal access to reading materials for individuals with visual disabilities. Er. Manish Verma, Director (Offg), NIEPVD, and Shri Yuvraj Malik, Director, National Book Trust India, signed the MOU, symbolizing their commitment to empowering persons with visual disabilities.

Another MoU with the Daisy Forum of India

The National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (Divyangjan) and the Daisy Forum of India (DFI) have collaborated to establish an online library catering to individuals with print disabilities. This partnership aims to provide accessible books and related resources through SugamyaPustakalaya, an online library designed for persons with print disabilities in India. The collaboration will utilize various accessible formats, including DAISY, E-Pub, BRF, and others, to address the diverse needs of the target audience. This initiative signifies a significant step towards making literature and resources more inclusive and accessible to individuals with print disabilities.
