In a meaningful commemoration, the President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, unveiled a postage stamp as a tribute to Dadi Prakashmani, the former chief of Brahma Kumaris, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre on August 25, 2023. This special stamp was launched as part of the ‘My Stamp’ initiative by the Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, on the occasion of the 16th anniversary of Dadi Prakashmani’s passing.

About Dadi Prakashmani

Dadi Prakashmani was the second administrative head of the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University, which is a spiritual organization that teaches Raja Yoga meditation. She was born on September 1, 1922, in Hyderabad, Pakistan. She was married at the age of 15 and had four children.

Life as a Brahma Kumari

In 1939, Dadi Prakashmani met Brahma Baba, the founder of the Brahma Kumaris.
She was immediately drawn to his teachings and began practicing Raja Yoga meditation.
She soon realized that she had found her true calling in life.
Dadi Prakashmani devoted her life to spreading the message of Raja Yoga meditation.
She traveled the world, speaking to audiences of all sizes.
In 1969, Dadi Prakashmani was appointed the administrative head of the Brahma Kumaris. She served in this position for 38 years, until her retirement in 2007.

Dadi Prakashmani was a charismatic and inspiring leader. She was known for her gentle wisdom and her compassion for others. She was also a strong advocate for women’s rights and education.

Dadi Prakashmani died on March 27, 2020, at the age of 97. She is remembered as a pioneer in the field of meditation and a role model for women and girls around the world.
