It includes 3 President’s Gallantry Medals, 19 Police Gallantry Medals, 93 President’s Police Medals, 927 Police Medals, and 20 Jeevan Raksha Medals. These awards highlight the exceptional contributions and sacrifices made by the RPF in the service of the nation.

About the Railway Protection Force

The Railway Protection Force is an armed force of the Indian Union under the administrative and operational control of Indian Railways, Ministry of Railways. It was established by the Railway Protection Force Act, 1957, enacted by the Indian Parliament for “the better protection and security of railway property and passenger area”. It has the power to search, arrest, enquire, and prosecute offenses committed under the Railway Property (Unlawful Possession) Act, 1966, and the Railways Act, 1989.

The RPF is the largest railway security force in the world with a strength of over 75,000 personnel. It is deployed at over 7,000 railway stations and 64,000 km of railway track across India.
