On November 3rd, the Union Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, inaugurated the commencement of domestic sailing for the first International Cruise Liner, the ‘COSTA SERENA,’ in India, at the port of Mumbai.

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways is dedicated to positioning India on the global cruising map. During the recent Global Maritime India Summit 2023, organized by the Ministry, the focus was on achieving the goal of hosting 50 million cruise passengers in India by 2047, a target that seems attainable given India’s immense potential.

Costa Cruises is expected to accommodate around 45,000 passengers on its upcoming voyages over the next two months, who might have otherwise booked from international locations. The significant advantage lies in providing an international cruising experience for Indians within Indian waters.
