GSAT-24 Successfully Commissioned

NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) has partnered with Tata Play to launch the GSAT-24 satellite in June 2022, aligning with the ‘Make in India’ vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s government. The GSAT-24 satellite has now been put into operational use by Tata Play, starting from August 7th, 2023.

The inaugural ceremony took place at Tata Play’s Broadcast Centre in New Delhi. During the event, Shri Apurva Chandra, Secretary of Information & Broadcasting, expressed his joy and congratulated the Department of Space (DoS) and Tata Play for the successful commissioning of GSAT-24. He highlighted that this achievement is another stride towards a self-reliant India (Aatmanirbhar Bharat) in the realm of space and communication.

About GSAT-24

GSAT-24, a communication satellite weighing 4 tonnes, developed by ISRO to provide Direct-to-Home (DTH) services, is now fully operational at its maximum satellite capacity after thorough in-orbit testing.

Significance

Congratulations to the collaborative efforts of NSIL, ISRO, and Tata Play for the successful realization of this project.

Why does Tata Play Need a satellite?

This achievement is a realization of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of privatization and the establishment of NSIL. It marks a significant collaboration where NSIL launched a demand-based satellite in partnership with Tata Play.
