IDFC FIRST Bank, LIC Cards and Mastercard collaborate to launch a co-branded credit card to meet the financial needs of India

IDFC FIRST Bank, LIC Cards and Mastercard announced their collaboration to launch an exclusive co-branded credit card. Available in two variants --- LIC Classic and LIC Select, the credit cards will provide more than 27 crores policyholders across the country an opportunity to save in the form of reward points on every LIC insurance premium payment.

Parama Sen appointed part-time member of PFRDA board

The Centre has appointed Parama Sen, Additional Secretary, Department of Expenditure in the Finance Ministry, as a part-time member in Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA).

PFRDA has a chairman besides three whole-time members and three part-time members.

Parama Sen replaces Anne George Mathew, who demitted office this year.

Presence of Indian banks via subsidiaries increased to 417 in FY23: RBI

Indian banks increased their overseas presence through the subsidiaries route to 417 during 2022-23, from 399 at the end of the preceeding fiscal, as per Reserve Bank data released.

Their employee strength, too, rose 0.5 per cent and 6.2 per cent for foreign branches and subsidiaries, respectively, during 2022-23.

Defence Ministry approves Rs 2800 crore rockets for Pinaka weapon system

In a major boost for the Indian Army, the Defence Ministry has approved a Rs 2,800 crore proposal for buying around 6,400 rockets for Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launcher systems.

The Defence Ministry's Defence Acquisition Council's recent meeting had cleared the proposal for the acquisition of two types of these rockets, known as Area Denial Munition Type 2 and Type-3.

RBI authorises Bandhan Bank to disburse pensions to railway employees

Bandhan Bank has announced that it has been authorised by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for the disbursement of pensions through e-PPOs on behalf of the Ministry of Railways.

National Mission For Clean Ganga Targets Cumulative Sewerage Treatment Capacity Of 7,000 MLD By December, 2026

Under Namami Gange Programme, in the Ganga basin, a total of 195 sewerage infrastructure projects have been taken up with a cost of ₹ 31,344.13 crore for creation & rehabilitation of 6,173.12 Million Litres per Day (MLD) of Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) capacity.

National Mission for Clean Ganga targets to sanction a cumulative treatment capacity of 7,000 MLD by Dec 2026.

Central Tribal University to be set up in Telangana

The Parliament passed the Central Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2023 bill to establish a central tribal university in Telangana.

The university will be built at a cost of ₹900 crore.

The university is expected to be set up in Mulugu and is named after tribal goddesses Sammakka and Sarakka.
