FAO Council has approved India’s proposal to observe an International Year of Millets in 2023. This will enhance global awareness to bring back nutri-cereals to the plate. It has approved India’s membership to the Executive Board of WFP for 2020 & 2021.

India to retain top position in remittances with $80 bn: World Bank

According to the World Bank's Migration and Development Brief, India will retain its position as the world's top recipient of remittances with $80 billion. India is followed by China ($67 billion), Mexico & Philippines ($34 billion) & Egypt ($26 billion).

AIIB clears $400-m loan for water supply project in AP

Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank has approved $400-million loan for a water sanitation project in Andhra Pradesh. The project will strengthen AIIB’s capacity to finance other broad-based water supply projects, which are in high demand in other States.

Senior Congress MP and Islamic scholar Mohammad Asrarul Haque Qasmi died in Bihar’s Kishanganj district. He was 76. He won the Kishanganj seat for the first time in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections. He was a member of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board.
