Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, since 2014, India's coal sector has undergone a far-reaching transformation, propelled by a series of policy and structural reforms of the Government of India aimed at enhancing transparency, efficiency, technology adoption, infrastructure development, ease of operations and energy security.
The outcome is visible at the national level: India's domestic coal production crossed the landmark 1-BT (Billion Tonne) mark for the second consecutive year in FY 2025-26, reaching 1.04 BT (prov.), as coal continues to power about 73% of the nation's electricity generation and ensuring energy security for the nation.

The practical application of this approach was also demonstrated during the session, with BHASHINI’s Shrutlekh deployed live as Shri Nag spoke, enabling real-time language translation and transcription. The demonstration showcased how language AI can operate in a live setting and
support multilingual communication beyond controlled or experimental environments.

India would host the World Circular Economy Forum (WCEF) 2026, at Gandhinagar (Gujarat) on 15th-18th September, 2026. A First for South Asia, the forum would be jointly inaugurated on the 15th by Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Bhupender Yadav, and Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel.

The Department of Official Language of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has been organizing All India Official Language Conferences every year since 2021. This journey, which began from Varanasi, has reached Navi Mumbai in Maharashtra this year, passing through Surat, Pune, New Delhi and Gandhinagar.

The Article 343 of the Constitution provides for Hindi in Devanagari script as the Official Language of the Union, while Article 351 places upon the Union the responsibility for the promotion, development and enrichment of Hindi.
Bankers' Books Evidence Act, 2026 which got assent of the President of India is aimed at providing a modern framework for the use of banking records as evidence in line with contemporary banking practices, will come into force from October 1.The Act adopts a technology-neutral approach by recognising banking records maintained in physical, electronic,
digital, virtual, cloud-based and other contemporary forms. It also provides for simplified and standardised certification of banking records, including through manual, digital or electronic signatures. These reforms reflect the government's continued commitment to modernising laws in line with technological advancements and evolving economic needs,
promoting ease of doing business and strengthening a modern and efficient financial system.
