The Ministry of Defence signed a ₹810.79-crore contract with Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) on Wednesday to procure 160 Satellite Smart Anti-Airfield Weapons (SAT-SAAW) and associated equipment for the IAF. The weapon is expected to enhance stand-off precision strike capability.
According to the Ministry of Defence, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh was present when the contract was signed in New Delhi under the Buy (Indian-Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured) category.
The SAT-SAAW is an air-to-ground precision-guided glide bomb designed to strike and neutralise enemy airfields from stand-off range.
The weapon can be launched from the Jaguar, Hawk and Su-30MKI fighter aircraft.
Designed and developed by the DRDO, the system will have an indigenous content of 60%. The programme also envisages further indigenisation of critical sub-systems, including the Initial Measurement Unit, Long Impact Delay Fuse, and Twin Store Carrier.
Deliveries are scheduled between 2027-28 and 2028-29.
The Ministry said SAT-SAAW would enhance the IAF’s operational capability and contribute to self-reliance in defence production.
India will host the prestigious UCI Road World Championships for the first time in 2032, with Pune selected as the host city. The decision is being seen as a significant milestone for the sporting ambitions of Maharashtra as well as the country.
The decision was announced at the UCI Congress held in Montreal, Canada, following the final presentation of Pune’s bid. Senior officials of the Maharashtra Government were present in Montreal in support of Pune’s candidature.
Hosting the world championship is expected to place Pune prominently on the international cycling map. The event will bring leading cyclists from across the world to the city and is expected to provide a major boost to cycling in Maharashtra and India.
The championship is also likely to create opportunities for strengthening cycling infrastructure, training facilities and the overall capacity to host international sporting events. It could further contribute to sports tourism and enhance Pune’s profile as an international sporting destination.
Delhi Government has approved the DURGA scheme aimed at providing safe, clean and dignified employment opportunities to women and transgender persons in the capital. This decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta in New Delhi.
Under this scheme, 1,300 pink electric autos will be allocated in the first phase, 1,170 will be reserved for women and 130 for transgender beneficiaries.
The Chief Minister said the scheme will give women and transgender persons an opportunity to become owners and drivers of electric autos.
She said that a maximum of 90 electric autos for women and up to 10 electric autos for transgender beneficiaries will be allocated in each revenue district. Ms Gupta said the scheme is an initiative towards making Delhi a safer, greener and more inclusive city.
In the Asian Games, 2026 Indian runners have clinched silver in the mixed 4x400m relay race at Nagoya. The quartet of Poovamma Raju, Vishal Thennarasu, Vithya Ramraj and Manu TS timed the run at 3 mins 14.46 seconds to defend India’s silver medal won in the last edition of the games in Hangzhou.
Before that, Seema Kumari won bronze in the 10,000 metre race after finishing at third spot in 32.50 mins. The achievement marks India’s first medal in the women’s 10,000m event at the Asian Games in 16 years.
Earlier, in Shooting, Anant Jeet Singh Naruka and Parinaaz Dhaliwal also bagged bronze in the mixed skeet team event, the first-ever medal for India in this category. The Indian pair missed just four of 48 shots and finished level with South Korea, but lost to South Korea in the tie-breaker. China won Gold.

Indian wushu player Roshibina Devi Naorem won Silver in the Women’s 60kg Sanda event after losing 0-2 to China’s Zhang Xiaoyu in the final. It was third Asian Games medal for Roshibina, after Silver 2023 Hangzhou Games and Bronze in 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games. In Men’s double sculls rowing, Satnam Singh and Salman Khan won bronze.

S&P Global Ratings raised its forecast for India’s real GDP growth in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2027, to 7% from 6.6% earlier, citing stronger-than-expected growth in the June quarter, while expecting the Reserve Bank of India to raise its policy rate by 25 basis points during the fiscal.
The ratings agency said robust industrial activity, healthy consumption, strong goods exports and accelerating government investment had pushed growth above its earlier expectations in the June quarter.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has, by an order dated September 24, 2026, imposed a monetary penalty of ₹3.10 lakh (Rupees Three lakh ten thousand only) on Ola Financial Services Private Limited (the company) for non-compliance with certain directions issued by RBI on ‘Know Your Customer (KYC)’.
This penalty has been imposed in exercise of powers conferred on RBI under the provisions of section 30(1) read with section 26(6) of the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007.
The statutory inspection of the company was conducted by RBI with reference to its operations for the period from January 2025 to November 2025.
Based on the supervisory findings of non-compliance with the provisions of RBI directions and related correspondence in that regard, a notice was issued to the company advising it to show cause as to why penalty should not be imposed on it for its failure to comply with the said provisions of RBI directions.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has, by an order dated September 22, 2026, imposed a monetary penalty of ₹2.70 lakh (Rupees Two lakh seventy thousand only) on KLM Axiva Finvest Limited (the company) for non-compliance with certain provisions of the directions issued by RBI on ‘Auction’ procedure.
This penalty has been imposed in exercise of powers conferred on RBI under Section 58-G(1)(b) read with Section 58-B(5)(aa) of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has, by an order dated September 22, 2026, imposed a monetary penalty of ₹10 lakh (Rupees Ten Lakh only) on Hero Fincorp Limited (the company) for non-compliance with certain provisions of the directions issued by RBI on ‘Fair Practices Code for Lenders – Charging of Interest’.
This penalty has been imposed in exercise of powers conferred on RBI under section 58G(1)(b) read with section 58B(5)(aa) of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934.

Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) has signed an MoU with National Shipbuilding and Heavy Industries Park, Andhra Pradesh, to develop a greenfield shipyard at Dugarajapatnam. MDL is a Navratna Defence PSU under the Ministry of Defence. The MoU was signed in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
It was signed by MDL Chairman and Managing Director Captain Jagmohan and NSHIP-AP Managing Director Praveen Adhithya C.V.
Under the agreement, MDL plans to invest around 15,000 crore rupees over the next five to seven years. The investment will be subject to the required approvals and clearances.
The project is expected to create direct and indirect employment for around 45,000 people. The proposed shipyard will have a design capacity of 1.2 million gross tonnes per year. It can also be expanded in the future.
The shipyard will build commercial vessels such as tankers, bulk carriers, container ships and LNG carriers.
It will also build other specialised vessels. The project is part of the proposed Dugarajapatnam Shipbuilding-cum-Port Cluster. It is being developed under the Government of India’s Shipbuilding Development Scheme. NSHIP-AP has identified MDL as the anchor shipyard for developing the cluster.
ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Limited has changed its name to ICICI Life Insurance Limited, effective September 22, 2026, following approval from the Registrar of Companies (RoC), Central Processing Centre, Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
The company said the RoC issued a fresh Certificate of Incorporation on September 22, pursuant to which the name change took effect.
The change follows approval from the company's members, which was disclosed on September 19.
The insurer said it will intimate the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) for issuance of a revised Certificate of Registration under the applicable 2024 regulations.
The Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI’s) special US dollar-rupee forex swap facility has attracted $143.596 billion in foreign currency inflows till September 18, with Foreign Currency Non-Resident (Bank), or FCNR(B), deposits accounting for the overwhelming share of the mobilisation.
According to the RBI, latest data reported by authorised dealer banks show that FCNR(B) deposits mobilised under the facility stood at $132.98 billion, while Overseas Foreign Currency Borrowings (OFCBs) brought in $5.32 billion and External Commercial Borrowings (ECBs) $5.296 billion.
India and the Netherlands have strengthened strategic partnership and cooperation in the water sector. Jal Shakti Minister CR Paatil and Vice Minister for Infrastructure and Water Management of the Netherlands, Jaap Slootmaker today chaired a bilateral meeting in New Delhi on the sidelines of the 9th India International Water Week 2026.
The meeting provided an opportunity to review and further strengthen India-Netherlands cooperation in the water sector with particular focus on advancing technical cooperation for the Kalpasar Project in Gujarat.
The project envisages creation of a freshwater reservoir using runoff from the Sabarmati, Mahi and Dhadhar rivers, supplemented by water conveyed from the Narmada River.
As part of the bilateral engagement, two Tripartite Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed to facilitate cooperation for the Kalpasar Project between the Central Water Commission, Kalpasar Department, Government of Gujarat, and Dutch knowledge institutions Deltares and TU Delft.
