Railways float tender for 58 new Vande Bharat trains, aims to deliver 102 trains by 2024

The Indian Railways has floated a tender for the production of 58 new Vande Bharat trains and aims to deliver 75 trains by next year.

These trains will be manufactured in Integral Coach Factory, Chennai, Modern Coach Factory, Rae Bareilly and Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala.

PM Modi flagged off the maiden run of a Vande Bharata train on the New Delhi-Varanasi route in 2019.

Ladakh had its first mobile digital movie theatre at an altitude of 11,562 feet which makes it the highest theatre in the world.

To bring cinema watching experience to most remote areas, a mobile theatre was introduced in the Paldan area of Leh in Ladakh.

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced that Mumbai has become the first district to complete one crore vaccinations against COVID-19 in the country.

According to the data published on the CoWin portal, Mumbai has administered a total of 1 crore 60 thousand 411 vaccine doses, covering 78 per cent of the adult population with at least one shot.

Indian shooter Avani Lekhara led India’s contingent at the Closing Ceremony of Tokyo Paralympics as the flag-bearer.

The 19-year-old shooter won gold in Women's 10m Air Rifle standing SH1 and bronze medals in Women's 50m rifle 3 positions SH1 at the Paralympic Games 2020.

A total of 54 para-athletes from India across nine sports disciplines participated in the event.

130th edition of Durand Cup, the oldest football tournament in Asia & the third oldest football tournament kicks off in Kolkata

The 130th edition of the Durand Cup kicked off at the Vivekananda Yubabharati Krirangan in Kolkata.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee kicked the ball and inaugurated the tournament.

16 teams are playing in this edition of the oldest club football tournament in Asia while two clubs East Bengal and Mohun Bagan are not participating.

The final match will be held on 3rd October.

Tokyo Paralympics: Shuttlers Pramod Bhagat wins gold, Manoj Sarkar wins bronze in men's singles SL3 category

At the Tokyo Paralympics, Indian shuttler Pramod Bhagat won the gold medal in the men's singles SL3 category while in the same event, Manoj Sarkar won a bronze medal for India.

Manish Narwal finished on top of the podium in the Mixed 50m Pistol SH1 final and Singhraj followed him at the second place for a silver medal.

C-DoT launches lab to design and develop a pan-India integrated alert system for disaster management.

State-run telecom research and development organisation C-DoT has launched a lab to design and develop a pan-India integrated alert system for disaster management. The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) launched the lab on the occasion of its 38th Foundation Day. A pilot project of the system was used to send alerts to people at the time of cyclone Yaas.

It promotes the idea of a break of five minutes from the work schedule to practice yoga to refresh, de-stress and re-focus. The five-minute protocol encompassing asanas, Pranayama, and Dhyana will be available through the app
