BCCI bans journalist Boria Majumdar for 2 years in Wriddhiman Saha case

The BCCI has imposed a two-year ban on journalist Boria Majumdar for bullying senior wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha, barring the sports journalist from interviewing players and entering stadiums in the country.

Majumdar won't be given media accreditation for two years as part of the sanctions ratified by the BCCI Apex Council.

RBI hikes repo rate for first time in 2 years; lending rate up by 40 bps, CRR hiked by 50 bps

RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das announced hike in benchmark interest rates by 40 basis points to 4.40 percent.

The MPC voted unanimously to increase the policy repo rate by 40 bps to 4.40 per cent with immediate effect. The standing deposit facility rate now stands at 4.15 per cent, while the marginal standing facility rate and bank rate stand at 4.65 percent.

The MPC also hiked CRR (cash reserve ratio) by 50 basis points to 4.5 per cent.

Rajasthan Becomes the First 10 GW Solar State

Rajasthan became the first state in India to surpass 10 GW of cumulative large-scale solar installations, as per Mercom’s India Solar Project Tracker. The state has a total of 32.5 GW of installed power capacity, with renewables contributing 55%, followed by thermal energy at 43%, and nuclear energy making up for the remaining 2%.

Coast Guard commissions air squadron in Kochi

The Coast Guard has commissioned its second air squadron, 845 Squadron (CG), of Advanced Light Helicopter Mk-III at an event held at the Coast Guard air enclave, Nedumbassery.

The first ALH Mk-III squadron of the Coast Guard is in Bhubaneswar.

Delimitation Commission on J&K submits report: 43 Assembly seats for Jammu, Kashmir to have 47

According to the report, the commission has recommended increasing the number of Assembly seats. For Kashmir, it has been suggested to increase the seats from 46 to 47, while the Jammu region will have 43 seats instead of 37. Now, J&K will have 90 Assembly seats.

The Delimitation Commission on Jammu and Kashmir was established on March 6, 2020.
