Scientists resume tagging of Olive Ridley sea turtles along Odisha coast

Scientists have resumed tagging of Olive Ridley sea turtles at Rushikulya rookery along the Odisha coast, which would help them identify the migration path and places visited by the marine reptiles after congregation and nesting.

The exercise was undertaken in Odisha in January 2021 after a span of about 25 years and 1,556 turtles had been tagged.

Odisha CM inaugurates State’s longest bridge ‘T-Setu’ over Mahanadi

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has inaugurated T-Setu, the State’s longest bridge over Mahanadi in Cuttack district.

The 3.4 km long bridge, connecting Gopinathpur in Badamba, Baideswar in Banki to Singhanath Pitha located in the middle of the river, has been built in the shape of English alphabet ‘T’ at a cost of Rs 111 crore.

Mastercard and Google announced the rollout of tokenisation for Google Pay users, who will be able to make hassle-free transactions using their Mastercard credit and debit cards. Through tokenisation, Mastercard cardholders will be able to make payments through a secure digital token without having to share their credit / debit card details such as card number, expiry date.

RBI extends card tokenisation deadline by 6 months till June-end

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) extended the card-on-file (CoF) tokenisation deadline by six months to June 30, 2022

Card-on-file, or CoF, refers to card information stored by payment gateway and merchants to process future transactions.

The earlier deadline was December 31, 2021.

CSB Bank has been empanelled as Agency Bank by the RBI

CSB Bank has been empanelled as ‘Agency Bank’ by the Reserve Bank of India.

This appointment will allow CSB Bank to undertake general banking business of the central and state governments which may be entrusted by the RBI.

India deploys first S-400 air defence system in Punjab sector

In a major boost to the country's air defence capabilities, the Indian Air Force (IAF) is deploying the first squadron of the S-400 air defence missile system in the Punjab sector.

The batteries of the first squadron would be capable of taking care of aerial threats from both Pakistan and China.

Justice SK Mishra Appointed As Acting Chief Justice Of Uttarakhand HC

President Ram Nath Kovind on basis of the recommendations of the Chief Justice of India has appointed Justice Sanjaya Kumar Mishra as acting Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court.

Justice Mishra, who is the senior-most Judges of the Uttarakhand High Court, will perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of the HC from December 24, 2021.

Railways’ 98% operating ratio not a reflection of its true financial performance: CAG

The Comptoller and Auditor General of India in its report on Railways’ finances tabled in Parliament noted that the Indian Railways’ operating ratio of 98.36% in 2019-2020 does not reflect its true financial performance and if the actual expenditure on pension payments is taken into account, the ratio will be 114.35 %.

Harbhajan Singh announces retirement from all forms of cricket

Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh announced retirement from all forms of cricket.

He has 417 wickets to his name in just 103 matches. While picked up 227 wickets in 236 ODI matches. For T20Is, the Turbanator played for India in 28 matches and claimed 25 wickets.

Harbhajan, now 41, made his international debut back in March 1998, in a Test match against Australia.
