Mahesh Dixit appointed Intelligence Bureau chief

Mahesh Dixit, a 1993 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre has been appointed as Director, Intelligence Bureau (DIB).

He succeeds Tapan Kumar Deka, who held the post since 2022. His tenure ends on June 30.

Mr. Dixit, a medical doctor by education, has led the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) desk and has also served in Nagaland and Bihar.

Dr. Rajeev hails from Pathanapuram in Kollam district. After graduating in Applied Electronics and Instrumentation from the College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram, he did his post graduation at the National Institute of Technology, Kozhikode. He did his PhD at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, after starting his career at the VSSC.
