India home to 718 snow leopards; Ladakh highest with 477: SPAI report

Environment minister, Bhupender Yadav released the report , Status of Snow Leopards in India during the National Board for Wildlife meet held in Delhi.

There are around 718 snow leopards in the country, the first ever population estimation exercise of the vulnerable species by the Snow Leopard Population Assessment in India (SPAI) Program has found.

Sanjana rewrites her record; Tamil Nadu second in medals table

Weightlifter A. Sanjana of Haryana was the toast of the sixth Khelo India Youth Games as she broke her own National record in snatch, clean and jerk and total in the girls’ 76Kg category.

ACC approves Sanjay Mudaliar as Bank of Baroda Executive Director

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the Department of Financial Services (DFS) proposal to post Sanjay Vinayak Mudaliar as Executive Director at Bank of Baroda.

Mudaliar is currently the Executive Director at Indian Overseas Bank.

Mudaliar will serve his new post from the day he assumes charge for the remainder of his term, i.e. up to Dec 31 ,2025.

ADNOC Gas Inks 10-Year Deal to Supply 0.5 MMTPA LNG to GAIL India, Enhancing Asian Market Presence

ADNOC Gas announced a 10-year agreement to supply 0.5 million metric tons per annum (mmtpa) of Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) to GAIL India Limited, reinforcing its position in the Asian LNG market and enhancing UAE-India relations.

This agreement adds to ADNOC Gas' portfolio of international LNG sales agreements with partners such as JAPEX, Total Energies Gas and Power, IOC.

Union Home Minister launches computerization scheme for offices of ARDBs, RCSs of states

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah launched the computerization scheme for the offices of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies (RCSs) and Agriculture and Rural Development Banks (ARDBs) of the states in New Delhi.

It also aims to reduce transaction costs, facilitate loan distribution to farmers, and enable real-time data access for better monitoring

IMF upgrades India's GDP growth rate to 6.7 percent for current financial year

International Monetary Fund (IMF) has increased its GDP growth estimate for India to 6.7 percent for the current financial year.

It is 40 basis points higher than its previous forecast of 6.3 percent. In its latest World Economic Outlook report, IMF also raised India's upward medium-term GDP growth to 6.5 percent, for 2025 and 2026

Khelo India Winter Games 2024 mascot, snow leopard ‘Sheen-e She’ (Shan) reveals

The first part of the Winter Games, a mouth-watering event for winter sports athletes, will be held in Union Territory of Ladakh for the first time from February 2-6.

In keeping with the tradition and bio-diversity of the region, the mascot of the Khelo India Winter Games 2024 is a snow leopard. It has been named ‘Sheen-e She’ or Shan in Ladakh region.

NGEL signs MoU with Government of Maharashtra for development of Green Hydrogen Projects; ~ ₹ 80, 000 crores investment expected

NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Government of Maharashtra for development of Green Hydrogen and derivatives (Green Ammonia, Green Methanol) of up to 1 million Ton capacity per annum, including Pumped Storage Projects of 2 GW and development of renewable energy projects with or without storage up to 5 GW in the state.

India ranks 93 in Global Corruption Index

Transparency International unveiled the 2023 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), disclosing a list of the world's most corrupt countries.

In the CPI, India secured the 93rd position with a score of 39, according to the Transparency International report.

India's overall score remained relatively stable, as it was 40 in 2022, securing the 85th position.
