Sugar mills have exported 33.49 lakh tonnes of sweetener so far in the current marketing year ending September, with help from government's financial assistance, the All India Sugar Trade Association (AISTA) said in a statement.
Sugar marketing year runs from October to September.

The Coir Board has signed an MoU with the IIT-Madras to establish a Centre of Excellence for the application of coir exclusively or in combination with other natural fibres. IIT-Madras had earlier validated the research studies on Coir Geo-Textiles (CGT).

The latest estimation of tiger numbers in the Indian Sunderbans indicates an increase in the population of big cats. According to the West Bengal Forest Department, the tiger count for the year 2019-20 rose to 96, from 88 in 2018-19.
