The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under the Government of India's scheme for replacement of old trucks and buses in the Delhi–NCR region was signed today between the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) and Tata Motors.
Under the agreement, the OEM will provide an 8 per cent discount on the ex-showroom price of eligible trucks and buses purchased under the scheme. For electric vehicles, the discount shall be capped at the discount applicable to an Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicle of the equivalent Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) category.
In addition to the 8 per cent discount offered by participating OEMs, the Central Government will provide 5 per cent interest subvention and fixed monthly fuel vouchers for a period of five years.
Participating State Governments will provide up to 100 per cent concession on motor vehicle tax for a period of ten years and waiver of registration fees for eligible beneficiaries under the scheme.
Earlier in the week, Ashok Leyland and Switch Mobility have also signed the MoU with the Government for implementation of the scheme.
The Indian Army contingent is set to depart today to participate in the multilateral joint military exercise - Exercise KHAAN QUEST. The Exercise is scheduled to be conducted from 20 June to 03 July 2026 at Five Hills Training Area, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
The Exercise will bring together military forces from across the world to collaborate and enhance interoperability in peace support operations under Chapter VII of United Nations Charter. The previous edition of the exercise was conducted from 14-28 June 2025 at Mongolia.
The exercise first started as a bilateral event between USA and Mongolian Defence Forces in the year 2003. Subsequently, from the year 2006 onwards the exercise graduated to a Multilateral Peacekeeping Exercise with current one being the 23nd iteration.

General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC Re), the country’s national reinsurer, has appointed Hitesh Rameshchandra Joshi as its Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD), effective June 16, 2026. The appointment marks a significant leadership transition at one of India’s most important insurance and reinsurance institutions.
Joshi had been serving as the interim CMD since October 2025 after the completion of the tenure of former CMD Narayanan Ramaswamy.
With his formal appointment, Joshi now takes charge of the organization at a time when the insurance and reinsurance sectors are witnessing rapid transformation driven by technological advancements, evolving risk landscapes.
Digital payments and financial services company PhonePe has introduced a 'wallet inactivity maintenance fee' of Rs 100 per quarter for inactive wallets.
The levy will be deducated from the existing wallet balance.
"If wallet balance is less than the Wallet Maintenance Fee, then the entire wallet balance will be debited and wallet balance will become zero," it said, adding that the balance would never be negative.
According to PhonePe, a wallet will be marked as 'inactive' if a user has not made any financial transactions through the PhonePe Wallet in the past 365 days.
Other user activities such as ogging in to the PhonePe application, performing UPI transactions, on-app category payments or applications (recharge, bill payments, credit cards, loans, insurance) or any other non-wallet transactions or KYC submission for wallet do not constitue wallet activity, and hence will not impact the wallet getting an 'inactive' status.
The digital payment platform notifies a user about a wallet becoming 'inactive' multiple times across 15 days before charging the fee, along with steps to re-activate the wallet.
HDFC Bank said that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved a three-month extension of Keki Mistry's tenure as interim part-time chairman, shunning market rumours over a new appointment.
The RBI has extended Mistry's tenure until September 18, 2026, or until the appointment of a regular part-time chairman, whichever is earlier, the bank said.
Keki Mistry took the role as interim chairman after the abrupt resignation of Atanu Chakraborty.
Chakraborty, a former bureaucrat who earlier served in the Department of Financial Services, joined HDFC Bank's board in May 2021.
Union Minister Pralhad Joshi announced the approval of the first batch of Rs. 22 crore support to nine startups under the National Green Hydrogen Mission’s (NGHM’s) Rs. 100 crore startup support programme.
During a workshop on NGHM organised by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Joshi also launched the Green Hydrogen Certification Portal of India (GHCI) to facilitate certification and regulatory compliance under the Green Hydrogen Certification Scheme of India.
Six states have notified dedicated green hydrogen policies, while seven others have integrated hydrogen into their existing industrial and renewable energy policy frameworks. Four more states are in the process of finalising their policies.
The Mission, launched in 2023, has an outlay of ₹19,744 crore to achieve at least 5 million metric tonnes of green hydrogen production capacity annually by 2030.

The date was chosen to commemorate the adoption on 19 June 2008 of Security Council resolution 1820 (2008), in which the Council condemned sexual violence as a tactic of war and an impediment to peacebuilding.
