Logo and Mascot of National Youth Festival 2022 in Puducherry unveiled

Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Thakur and Lt. Governor of Puducherry Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan has unveiled the Logo and Mascot of the 25th National Youth Festival to be held in Puducherry from January 12 to 16.

The tag-line of the National Youth Festival, Shaksham Yuva Shashakth Yuva meaning Capable Youth- Forceful Youth, Able Youth- Strong Youth.

FASTag Toll Collection Jumps To A Record ₹ 119 Crore/Day In December 2021

The FASTag electronic toll collection across national highways and state roads hit an all-time high in December 2021.

The government said it collected ₹ 3,679 crore via FASTag, which translates to a collection of ₹ 119 crore per day. It also saw a substantial jump in revenue increasing by ₹ 1,375 crore year-on-year.

FASTag was mandated on vehicles from February 2021.

Railway Ministry gives nod for final survey of Imphal-Moreh section for construction of BG line

The Ministry of Railways has given sanction for the final location survey of the Imphal–Moreh section of about 111 km for the construction of a new broad gauge (BG) line connecting India & Myanmar.

This new line once constructed will be of strategic importance and will form an important part of the proposed Trans-Asian Railway, which will connect India with South East Asia.

The final location survey will be conducted at an estimated cost of Rs 333 lakh.

Centre elevates top IAS officer G Asok Kumar as DG National Mission for Clean Ganga

Senior IAS officer, G Asok Kumar posted as additional secretary, Union ministry of Jal Shakti assumed the charge as Director General of National Mission for Clean Ganga, Ministry of Jal Shakti.

Government-promoted CSC SPV, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, will undertake the first-ever cultural survey of India's villages through a mobile application.

The survey, titled 'Mera Gaon, Meri Dharohar', will document the cultural identity at the village level by involving citizens to share what makes their village, block or district unique.

Cabinet nod for 2nd phase of Green Energy Corridor with Rs 12,000 cr outlay

The Union Cabinet gave its nod to investing Rs 12,031 crore for laying transmission lines to evacuate electricity generated from renewable power projects in seven states.

The project, called Green Energy Corridor Phase-II, would involve laying 10,750 circuit kilometers of transmission lines by 2026.

Govt introduces penalty regime for non-compliance of fly ash utilisation

Opec appoints Kuwait’s Haitham Al Ghais as new secretary general

Opec appointed Kuwaiti oil executive Haitham Al Ghais as its new secretary general, as demand for oil continues to improve amid a mild recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.

Mr Al Ghais, a veteran of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and Kuwait’s Opec governor from 2017 to June 2021, will take the group’s reins in August, replacing Mohammad Barkindo.
