Prime Minister inaugurates headquarters of IN-SPACe at Bopal, Ahmedabad

PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the headquarters of the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) at Bopal, Ahmedabad. It is an autonomous and single window nodal agency in the Department of Space for the promotion, encouragement and regulation of space activities of both government and private entities.

Indian diplomat Amandeep Singh Gill appointed as UN Chief's envoy on technology

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has appointed senior Indian diplomat Amandeep Singh Gill as his envoy on technology to coordinate programmes for international digital cooperation. Amandeep Singh Gill has been India's permanent representative to the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva from 2016-to 2018.

Country's industrial activity jumps to 7.1 per cent in April against 1.9 per cent in March 2022

The country’s factory output (IIP) accelerated by 7.1% in April, against 1.9% in March 2022. According to the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation data, the growth in IIP data during April is led by all the sectors. The manufacturing sector recorded a growth of 6.3%, the mining sector rose by 7.8% and the electricity sector climbed 11.8%.

UNGA adopts resolution on multilingualism, mentions Hindi language for first time

In a significant initiative, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has adopted an India-sponsored resolution on multilingualism that mentions the Hindi language for the first time.

Hindi @ UN' project was launched in 2018 with an objective to enhance the public outreach of the United Nations in the Hindi language.

Fitch Ratings has revised its outlook on India’s sovereign rating from ‘negative’ to stable

The rapid economic recovery in India made credit rating agency Fitch revise its outlook on India from negative to stable. It, however, has cut India’s growth forecast for this year to 7.8% due to inflationary impact of the global commodity price. Previously, the agency predicted the growth of 8.5% for the fiscal year 2023. It maintained a rating of BBB- for the country.

India's FDI rank rises to 7th position despite falling inflows: UNCTAD

According to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, India jumped one position to 7th among the top recipients of foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2021 despite FDI inflows into the country declining. In its World Investment Report UNCTAD said FDI inflows into India declined to $45 billion in 2021 from $64 billion in the preceding year.

RBI doubles home loan limits of co-op banks

The limits for tier-I and tier-II UCBs have been revised from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 60 lakh and Rs 70 lakh to Rs 1.40 crore, respectively. These limits were last revised for UCBs in 2011 and for RCBs in 2009.

The RBI allowed urban cooperative banks to provide doorstep banking services to meet the needs of customers, especially senior citizens and differently abled persons.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) cancelled the banking license of Karnataka-based The Mudhol Co-operative Bank citing inadequate capital situation.The bank is prohibited from conducting the business of ‘banking’ which includes, among other things, acceptance of deposits and repayment of deposits.
