The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) got a new Director-General with the appointment of IAS officer V. Vidyavathi, according to Appointments Committee of the Cabinet. She will be serving in the rank of Additional Secretary to the Government of India.

India Post releases Special Postal Cover dedicated to Migrant Workers

India Post, Mumbai paid tribute to migrant workers, by releasing a Special Postal Cover dedicated to them at the Bicentennial Hall of the Mumbai GPO building. 5 migrant workers from different sectors were called upon to release the Special Cover.

Child, maternal malnutrition led to 68 per cent under-five fatalities in India

68.2% of Under-five (U5) deaths were due to child and maternal malnutrition while low birth weight and short gestation led to 83 per cent of neonatal deaths from 2000 to 2017 according to findings of the India State-Level Disease Burden Initiative.

Hazaribag’s iconic Sohrai tribal art gets GI tag

Jharkhand received the GI tag for its Sohrai – Kohvar art form. Mainly practised by tribal women of remote villages in Hazaribag district, these traditional and ritualistic paintings are made only with naturally available soils of different colours.

Telangana’s Telia Rumal given GI tag

Telia Rumal is created using the traditional handloom process and not by any other mechanical means. Telia Rumals were worn as a veil by princesses at the erstwhile court of the Nizam of Hyderabad, and as a turban cloth by Arabs in the Middle East.

Govt broadens the definition of MSME

Microenterprises will be those with an investment of up to Rs 1 crore and a turnover of up to Rs 5 crore. Small enterprises are those up to Rs 10 crore in investment and Rs 50 crore in turnover. Medium enterprises are those up to Rs 20 crore investment.

BRICS’ New Development Bank provides $1 billion loan to India to fight COVID-19

The New Development Bank of BRICS disbursed $1 billion emergency assistance loan to India to help it reduce human, social and economic losses due to the pandemic. The ‘Emergency Assistance Program Loan’ to India was approved by the NDB Board of Directors.

CDC of the US commits $3.6 million to India
